Question about Land Rover Cars & Trucks
The seat goes backwards but not forwards
Check for debris on the tracks for a start. Does the motor run in both positions? If so there may be a simple jam. If not, the seat control may require repair or replacement. Could be a bad wire or harness or the switch itself.

The reason is that your sliding grips have been slipped and therefore jammed at one position.
Remove the seat open it's sliding grips and replace it.

it could be the electrical switch that controls the motor, that is if there are two switches to the seat button which controls the motor.
