Look for interior lights left on, do this at night. Check the sun visors if they have vanity lights.

Is there a fusable link that would keep the alternator from charging battery in a 1991 chevy corsica

Yes, I believe that would be a fusible link, rather than a large fuse (maxi-fuse) used on later models. The fusible links will tie into the positive battery cable somewhere. If not at the battery, then look for them where the positive cable connects to the starter. A bad fusible link will look like some of the insulation melted, may have bumps and bulges where the fusible link blew out. To replace a link, you cut it out and solder in a new link of the same rating.

I have a 1987 chevy cavalier with a new alternator but the battery is not being charged

These systems have a 3 wire alternator with a internal regulator. Normal charging voltage is 13.2-14.8 volts @ 1000 rpm's just above a idle. With the engine OFF see if you can turn the alternator pulley a slipping belt drops charging potential. check for battery power with a volt meter on the 2 larger wires these should have battery voltage and with engine running they go up to charging voltage . the smaller wire is the turn on signal it only has power with the key on. . If larger wires have no power then the fuse link wire is burnt which is located on starter battery post. This wire is rubber coated and has a round clear raised connector with wire gauge stamped in it E.G. 14, 16. these wires never appear to be burnt pull on then gently if they stretch it is broken. replace with new fuse link wire. if all good then problem is alt.

2000 Cavalier 2.2: Put in new starter. 2 days & it

The battery and alternator may have been ok.
You have a fuse or fuseable link between the alternator and battery to protect it. If you have battery voltage at the battery post and not at the alternator post, there is a break in that circuit.
If the battery cable goes to the starter, the alternator wire may go from there and that could be where the fuseable link is.
Fuseable links are special thin wires that act like fuses.

New alternater still not charging

The car is having power drained somewhere. Check for an electrical short or some kind of "on" power source. Good Luck!!-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1997 chevy 1500 fusable links diagram

Fusable links usuall don't have a diagram ,,,, the protect major electrial circuirs or coponants ie Alternator, Glow plugs, Battery, Aug power systems etc and are a serious fuse .60A - 100A normally , located as close to the battery "+" terminal and with heavy single wiring or in the under the hood fusebox (large oversized fuses). When the fusable links blow it's a major short in the wiring/circuitry.....

Hi, I have a 1994 Chevy Cavalier with the 2.2L 4Cyl Engine. We bought it off a private owner and it was running good. We went to autozone to get a new fuel injector because one was leaking, we replaced...

The smaller wires that hook to the big post on the solenoid. These are fusable link wires. It sounds like one is burnt or not hooked up. These feed all the power to the car. Did you hook the grounds to the top of the starter bolt?

Location of Alternator relay in 1987 Nissan Pintara 4cyl EFI, new alternator, new battery, fusable link ok, not charging properly, no charge light on dash.

I am assuming that when you say no alt light on dash , you mean that when you first turn key on for the bulb check it won't light. i f this is true then I would be looking at replacing the bulb first. most car's use the bulb in the dash as part of the excitment circut to get the alt to start charging.

The battery light on our expedition was on so we replaced the alternator and then the battery, and the new battery is still dying. What could be wrong? Thanks

YOU MAY HAVE A VOLTAGE DRAIN IF ALT LIGHT IS OUT NOW AND BATTERY DOESN'T HAVE A BAD CELL. TEST AT POSTS,SHOULD HAVE 14.1-14.4V CHARGING. MAKE SURE NO FUSABLE LINKS ARE BLOWN EITHER. GOOD LUCK!
