Question about 2006 Mazda Miata

MX-5 Brake Sensitivity

I just purchased a 2006 MX-5 Grand Touring. My 3rd MX-5/Miata. The car is great but the brake pedal is really sensitive. Heel/toeing on a downshift is all but impossible. Is there an adjustment that can be made to make it a little more reasonable?

It has a computerized electronic brake distribution system.it is very complex and only mazda can tell you if it can be altered.it measures how fast and how hard the pedal is applied

There's an electrical switch on the clutch pedal arm (sort of like a brake lamp switch on the brake pedal arm). What does it do?

One of two things - if the switch closes when you press the pedal, it's an ignition safety requiring the clutch to be pressed when starting the car. If it's closed with the clutch pedal released it's a cruise control safety, so that cruise disengages if you push the pedal in (so the engine doesn't over-rev).

Why rear brake lights not working on 1990 Mazda Miata? Fuses and bulbs are good. Was blowing fuse for dash and parking lights prior to brake lights becoming inoperable,

You'll have to inspect the brake light switch at the pedal box assy. Damaged switch or wiring could give the previous symptoms you describe.! Good luck

Mx-5 pops out of first gear

The shake might be tires out of round, or out of balance. If it shakes while depressing the brake pedal, your rotors may be out of round.
As far as popping out of gear, if the shifter or linkage (If you have it) is hitting, and not "free" might be an issue, otherwise syncro's in the gear box may be worn.

Have a 2007 Mazda MX-5 Grand Touring Convertible(manual)-6 speed. Why does the battery keep going dead and what type of battery can i safely replace the oem battery with please? Thank you John Devaney

You will need the car checked for a "parasitic draw" not to exceed 250MV. if it has no draw, then you will need the battery replaced. The OEM battery is a sealed "gel cell" and you will need to replace it with another gel cell or OEM battery. You can always Google "WESTCO" batteries and see if there is a dealer in you area, or you can order one Check out http://www.gomiata.com/wessealbat.html
