If the head of the key is gray and about 3/8 of an inch thick then it probably is a SKIM key.

SOURCE: does the sebring 2001 have a chip in the key?

the ignition key contains a transmitter that is read by the ignition key ring antenna, the antenna sends registration code signals to the immobilizer ECU. if the registration code in the key does not match or one is not sent to the imobilizer than the pcm will not allow vehicle operation.

all keys must be programmed with a scanner

2001 chry. Sebring how do I by pass anti theft...so I could use screwdriver to turn ign. Sw. Nd start car.........,.

You cant. It uses a keyfob. you need the chip in the key to work or the ignition wil stay locked out. There is no bypass. Otherwise the anti-theft feature wouldnt work very well. No other option aside from a new key and having a mechanic or dealership program new keys

How do I get the lock piece for my 2001 crystler seabring ?

Not sure what you mean by "lock Piece". Are you talking about a chip key or remote? Or are you talking about something physical on the car?

What if my 97 sebring had no security could I use junkyard replacemrnt

replacement for what? If you have a gray key, its a chip key and you can get it programmed to the car. If its black, no chip, no alarm.

01 chrysler sebring battery died now wont start

My daughter's 01 Sebring key doesn't have a chip, but the short battery cable was almost completely corroded through, acting like a dead battery. Check the cables for bad connections, too. I think both the pos and neg sides are each made of two short cables.

My 2001 sebring wont start. I turn the key and it

you could very have a transponder key that has failed to let the circuit complete to start the car. check that with your local locksmith. also try to unlock your doors manually with key , on the driver side and turn to unlock at least three times, i know it sounds stupid but your car has a passive alarm built in that will prohibit it from starting sometimes because it was designed so well.:) good luck.

2001 Sebring won't start

I had same problem when I had a plain copy of the key made.
There's a proximity chip in the factory key or something, but the plain copy would not work. Engine would crank, then immediately stop. I didn't need the extra key bad enough to spend $80+ at the dealership.
