1995 bmw 318is new alternator battery dieing

We got the charging system checked after putting a new battery in and sure enough the alternator was the culprit. After putting a new alternator in, the car continues to die. When we did the replacing the battery was zapped of all charge by the way. I can jump it, drive for say 10 minutes get out and then restart it after 10-15 min, however if it sits overnight or is jumped and then driven a shorter distance and left the same amount of time it is totally dead. No interior lights, no power at all. I bought a volt meter and the battery had almost no charge to it, it read 4 v. Had the new alternator checked and it seems fine. I am currently charging the battery to full capacity but am wondering if that's going to fix the problem or if there is something else I should be looking for. ???

Check all the lighting on the car, IE: trunk light, glove box light, light under the hood, any small light make sure they shut off ,check to see if you have a phone charger left in the cig. lighter, radar detector ETC. any of those things can drain a battery over night quick.if you dont find anything wrong then you may have a short somewhere in the electric system... hope this helps you...

I would jump start the vehicle and then check the alternator output voltage at the battery to make sure it is over 12 volts. if you're getting volts from the alternator--it's good. Is it a maintenance free or can you see the electrolyte level. if you can see the liquid--i can tell you another test.

Re-check the battery cables at both ends. If the cables/connections are good, there's no reason a new battery shouldn't hold a charge, even one that's been drained. If the connections are good, it's possible you either got a bad battery or it was sitting on the shelf for a while before you bought it. If this was the case, a good slow charge should solve your problem but if it doesn't I'd bring the battery back to the retailer and have it replaced. Hope this answers your question and All the best!

My battery dies i replaced a brand new alternator but still dosen't charge tomthe battery

The battery most likely has dead cells and not charging due to the alternator .The alternator is doing what it should, your battery just can't hold the charge the alternator is putting out. Go have the battery tested at a local auto zone or advance auto store. Free to check

I have a 1995 Mitsubishi Montero, new battery and new alternator. Car loses charge while driving, can actually see the battery gauge going from 16 to 12 in ten minuets then gets to 8 and radio goes off and...

You need to check the charging system. Take a volt OHM meter and go to the positive and then the negative posts. It will tell you how many volts it is putting out. If it is not charging at least 13.9 volts, then you bought a faulty alternator. If the alternator is good then check the belts to make sure they are tight enough. When you push on the belt at about 3 inches from the alternator it should not give more than 1/4 to 1/2 inch. If it does move more, then tighten the belts. If it is a V belt, just tighten the alternator. If a serpentine belt, check the belt tensioner and belt routing to make sure it is on right. The diagram should be under the hood.

My car started dying and now hasnt enough charge to start

sound like bad battery cables.replace them.the positive battery cable is old and have a lot of resistance not allowing power to the alternator to charge battery.if battery cable good check alternator connector wires.make sure they are not damage also check alternator fuse and fuse link.turn off radio before removing battery wires so you wont lose radio code.

Altanator keeps dieing.

A fresh charged battery does not mean it is a good battery. The battery is working the alternator to death, replace it,it has a bad cell,or the amps are to low,and has a short in it.The alternator senses the battery is in bad need off charge, and puts all out until the alternator has nothing left,This is the most likely cause of this problem. Also be sure the battery cable ends are shiny clean when replacing the battery.

1995 Jeep wrangler not charging properly

lf you have replacement cable ends on your battery, check that wires are not corroded under the straps. Also check alternator ground (run a ground wire directly to the alt case) I have seen "lazy" regulators at times but this is very rare. Also make sure drivebelt is tight enough to prevent slipping. Has your battery been charged and load tested?

Electrical Problem with 1999 Subaru Legacy

hi there, your alternator is not putting out enough, subbies should put out about 14.4v and just after starting should put out 40-60amps. charge the batt that is in it now with a small (3.5-6amp) charger overnight then start the car and LOAD TEST the batt and alternator at a battery shop. ask them to put a carbon pile load tester on your system. im pretty sure they're gonna tell you its the alternator. many thanks, hope this helps!

You said the starter works rt I would suggest pulling your alternator and get it checked at autozone. Take a look at your battery as well a bad alternator will allow the battery to drain
