2000 Jetta Won't Stay Running after Filling up with Gas

I have a 2000 jetta and lately when I put gas in the car it will start but won't stay running. It shuts down. I have to keep trying to start it and eventually it stays running. It doesn't do it when I'm low on gas only after I put gas in it.

1.1 mm is the standard gap for a platinum tipped plug. Plugs for this car usually come pre-set but it's always worth checking before installing. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: 2000 VW jetta VR6 windshield wipers wont work

first try the fues box see if you have a blown fues, next if you put your wipers on can you hear the motor running for them? if you can the linkage has poped off from the motor, its a bit awkward to get it back on and no gaurentee that it will saty on, you might have to replace linkage, or, it might be the cogs on the actual wiper arms have splayed and are now smooth so they dont grip to move, you can take them off by the nut on the arm , get a can (coke can or simular) cut a rectangle out of it the hight and width if the cog, rap it round the cog, (make sure it does not overlap on the ends) and force the arm back into place and then do the nut up, this is just a short quick fix if that is the case you will have to replace the motor, also you can check the relay to the motor in the fues box, give it a tap a couple of times it might work again if not replace it...hope you find these sugestions helpful

Security option.

In some cars if the radio is removed it will disable the vehicle or not let it drive away.
If you're installing an aftermarket radio, you're likely going to need a bypass module.

Will start but won't stay running

Try changing the fuel filter. Chances are when it ran out of gas it sucked all the old gunk and stuff into the lines. If that doesn"t work you may have to take it to a professional to have the gunk sucked out. Also after you change the filter dump some fuel injector cleaner into the tank that should clean up any remaining residue.

there are 2 sensor on the carb . you may need to replace both to find out whiche one it is . try this also give it gas while starting and when it starts you will have to keep your foot on the gas a little to keep it running if it runs that way its one of the 2 senors .
