At first blush, all the signs of a bad thermostat. It tends to stick when it gets old and prevents sufficient coolant flow through the engine. Best of luck.

Engine hot a/c off on 2006 impala any suggestions

check cooling fan fuse, a quick way to check, turn on your A/C while the car is running, the cooling fans should come on right away, if not try a direct wire from the battery to the fan plug, that will tell you if you fan motor or motor's are bad.

2005 impala temp guage fluctuation form normal to high when idling

First make sure that the coolant is full, then make sure that your cooling fan is running when the temp gauge is at high. You may have a temp sensor or relay for the fan that is bad,or maybe the fan is bad.The fan will also run when you have the A/C or heater in the defrost position. If you have duel fans one may only come on with the A/C.Well hope this helps.

1995 cutlass supreme. There are two cooling fans.

it will come on but only when the engine is very hot and the first fan cant cool it down that fast,, its turned on by a difrent heat censor so the engine needs to be realy hot to set the second fan running and it may even then only run for 30 seconds till the engine temp drops off,,, as long as the car is running in the normal heat range dont worry about it,,, if its cooking way up in the red,,,,,now worry about it,,fast too,,

Car runs hot at an idle. turn on the air and the fan comes on and cools off . does the ect control the fan function when the air is off? 1994 camaro 3.4.

The Cooling fan is Wired in in such a way so as to Automaticly Turn on Cooling Fan If the A/C is Switched ON. If "WITHOUT the A/C on" The Cooling Fan Doen NOT come ON Untill Engine. is @ 210-230 Degrees
There IS a Problem with the Engine COOLING SYSTEM, A Faulty Coolant Temp Sensor Will Cause this Problem. The Cooling fan is Also A Candidate For Testing.

Answering your Quwstion YES The Engine Coolant Temperture Sensor Tells the ECM What the TEMP Is and the ECM Grounds the Cooling FAN Relay to Turn ON Cooling FAN. Temp Sensor is the Usual Culpret, BUT Relay Comes in a CLOSE Second. Hope this Helps !!!

AC blows cold while moving, and gets warmer while I'm stopped

There are two fans behind the radiator. One is suppose to begin running when the AC is turned on. The other is to cool the radiator when it gets too warm. Raise the hood with the engine running and AC "on"and see if at least one fan is running.
