Question about 1998 Chevrolet Malibu
More than likely it is a bad ignition coil (ignition module), that is common to have soddered internal connections that fail as engine heat and cools, have you changed the fuel filter yet? it is required maintanance and should be done either way.....i can see your symptoms in a plugged/restricted filter.....let me know, marty
