You might need to remove the brake drum and take a close look while someone is pressing the brake pedal, you might have to replace the spreader on the brake system, you might have a rubber boot that blew or went bad, if it is a disk brake system you will need to remove the wheel after you jack up the vehicle, just make sure you put a jack stand under the axle so as not to have it fall off the jack, have someone pump the brake and see where it is leaking from... it could be something easily fixable, like a loose line, or the bleeder valve open, if not then look at all the rubber bootings and make sure they are not broken, if so you will need to remove the part and goto an auto parts store to get the new part to replace it... DO NOT JUST DRAIN THE FLUID, you do not want any air in the line, what ever part you replace, you will have to add fluid after then bleed the air out of the line.... if you have air in the line, the part will just brake again or brake something new... DO NOT ADD ANY LEAK STOP FLUID till you find what is leaking cause you will lock the brake system up or brake something else....

Hi Chris, The brake system is basically very simple. If you have duel braking on your vehicle, the usual method is having two brakes operate on the front with for example the left rear and the other system will also operate two front and the right rear. This type of system will have two calipers on each of the front wheels. The tandem system works in a slightly different way, having the forward part of the cylinder pressurizing the rear brakes and the rear part of the cylinder pressurizing the front. I think under the circumstances you are describing, I would have a friend sit inside and pump the brakes repeatedly until the system becomes pressurized (maybe twenty thirty times of pumping the brake pedal) and then ask him or her to keep it pushed firmly down until you find out where its leaking. The amount of brake fluid you report having been sed would indecate a severe leakage. Check the lower parts of the rear wheels for signs of leaking wheel cylinders and then dito for the front wheels. Any signs of wetness at these areas and along the brake system (the plumbing or pipe work) will indicate where the leakage is. If you cannot identify a wheel which is leaking, carefully inspect around and blow the master cylinder and if this no sign go along the fluid lines, taking special note of where the damaged pipe was repaired. If there is a blockage in the line, air may be trapped at that point causing difficulty in pressurizing. Once the place of leakage has been identified it must be attended to before bleeding the system. When bleeding, begin with the wheel furthest from the master cylinder, and work your way back to the master cylinder one wheel at a time, until you reach the closest.Keep in mind that you may find it required to pump the pedal many many times before opening the bleed nipple.Regards John

Oil leaking from rear drivers side brake drum

If it's oil, your axle seal is leaking, and will need to be replaced. That will involve taking the rear diff apart. If it is brake fluid, you just have a leaky wheel cyllinder. Determine for sure which it is before you start spending money.

The car is leaking fluid on the drivers side. Also

if the fluid has a strong smell then its likely brake fluid .. that would be a bad master cycilnder ... if the fluid smells like antifreeze then thats a leaking heater core ... if its just water then look foor a clogged drain hose on the ventalation air intake chamber ... the brake fluid will be oily and a strong smell .. if thats the problem then it is not safe to drive until that is fixed .. you could partially or completely lose braking ... .

Bleed the brake lines

start at the passenger rear tire, have someone PUMP up brakes and hold pressure on them, release pressure by locating small bleeder screw, loosen screw 1/4 turn, brake fluid/air should come out, after brake petal reaches floor tighten bleeder, repeat process until only brake fluid comes out. go to driver side rear repeat, go to pass. side front repeat, go to driver side front repeat, after each bleeding make sure you check brake fluid in reservoir.

Brakes

It sounds like you have air in the brake line(s). You need to bleed your brakes and that should fix your problem.

Brake pedal sinks 1-2 inches while holding

Sounds like your master cylinder is shot. Go to a parking lot, stop, and pump the pedal a bunch of times. Then get out and see if there is any fluid leaks by any of the wheels. That would indicate a brake line leak. My first guess, however, is your master cylinder.

Loss of break fluid, wet driver side rear

Check to see if the brake line is leaking. If it’s not , it is probably the slave cylinder. Remove the wheel, take the brake drum off and you should see the cylinder. If it is a disk brake. You have the inside brake pad plunge seal leaking. Sorry I don’t remember if the brakes are disk or drum, and I don’t have my books close. Either way it is a relatively easy fix. Parts are readily available at the auto parts store.
