That means there is a fault in the airbag system. Every time you start the vehicle it will do a self check. If the self check fails the light will stay on.
You will need a higher end scan tool to pull codes from the airbag module. Once you know what codes are present you will have a better idea of what direction to head into.
Post the codes in the comments below and I'll do my best to help you figure it out.
Having a factory or professional type scan tool hooked up checking DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes in all the modules on the vehicle . Insturment cluster , PCM , BCM ,ABS , SRS etc.... Should be the first step in the diagnostic procedure.. Could have a serial data network problem . Do you know what a serial data buss is ? In the case of your vehicle it is GM class 2 data buss . Anytime a bunch of thing's electrical wierd out , suspect the buss.Buick , chevy , cadillac , olds , pontiac all used this . Buick Class 2 Operation Diagnosis 1998
AAS stands for Attention Assistance System, it comes on along with ESP Owners Manual on a Dash Board usually it comes up when you drift a car or useing a wrong speed while traction is Off, to Reset this Turn off your engine open the door close it and them lock the car, and then unlock the car open the door close it again and start the car, this reset the error code if it stays on dash board contact your Local Dealership unless you want to kill the transmission completley.
Welcome, it is telling you there is a problem go to shop and have the codes read. Even though 4 wheel still works. there are two common problems w/auto 4x4, one is like described "switch" problems, replace /repair......the other involves a sensor internal to the encoder motor, which is fairly inexpensive, and not very difficult to replace. there should be a code stored in your pcm to assist in diagnosis, if there is a C0327, than I would replace the sensor in the encoder motor. Once the on board computer sets a Diagnostic Trouble Code. It does not matter how many times the Codes are cleared from the computer If the repairs for that code were not made or don correctly the computer will keep setting the same Code or Codes. I would get a second opinion somewhere alse. Good Luck and have a good XMASS. From Ernie at RedDeer, Alberta, Canada.
Your case could be the voltage regulator, when they go bad, the dash board goes into a light show, you will have to get the alternator out and checked, and probably replaced. But, you are not alone, if it isn't the regulator, it is the car, they have had a ton of complaints about the dash board lighting up with warnings and trouble codes and nothing is wrong with the car, It takes a rocket scientist to figure t out, because the dealer will take the car, fix it for 10 mins, then they come back on, and you get tired of taking it to the dealer. Get the code read while you are at it and see what it says. Hope this helps.
The light indicates that the car's computer thinks that there is something wrong with one of your systems. There is an OBD-II port under the dash, probably on the driver's side. If you take your car to Autozone (or perhaps another automotive store of the same sort), they will be happy to attach their code reader to your port and tell you what codes the computer is indicating. They don't charge anything to do that, and you will then know what the computer thinks is wrong.
Hope this helps you.
This indicates a problem with the engine that needs attention. If you take it to your local garage, they will put it on their computer and that will tell you what is wrong.
Get an obd2 code reader or borrow one from a major auto shop and they'll help you out in retrieving it. You can get wireless ones that will transmit the codes to your phone. You can get them for as cheap as $5 with free shipping. ELM327 Bluetooth obd2 transmitters work best with Android and the wifi ones are better for iphones. Then you something like Dash Commander or Torque Lite to grab the codes and translate what's going on.
Use OBE to read codes, find fault code and erase, you can buy OBE's at auto stores for around $120.00, brake light probably needs replaced, see a good mechanic to open dash...
