The check engine light came on two weeks ago and within minutes the truck died. it started back up about 10 minutes later and two days after the light went out. it just came back on while on way home but did not act funny. had autozone run diagnostic on it and p0442 was the code.
Just run the code on the internet with your search engine. It should tell you something.

Code 442 should not have any effect on how the engine runs.
The code means the engine computer has detected a small leak in the venting system for the gas tank. The most common reason is a loose or faulty gas cap.

i would check your ignition system. you would need a meter for this but look for broke or loose connections. if it was a fuel problem i dont think it would just start up after 20 minutes. or you might try your ignition switch. if its shorting or something then ya well it would cut your engine off real quick

Sounds like the fuel pump is going out. Replace the filter first, as it's only $10. If that doesn't fix it, then it's probably the pump, which is $250.

Replacing the fuse the first time was the right move, becuase it could have been a fluke that it blew. Replacing it again and again was not! You should have found out EVERYTHING that the #2 fuse controlled and verified that the components weren't pulling excessive amperage (shorted condition). By replacing the fuse over and over, you might have made the problem worse by subjecting good components to something that was shorted.
BTW next time pick the oldest guy at autozone to help you, if the counter help knew their stuff they would have told you the same thing I just did!
