We have the same problem with ours! a mechanic told us to just turn it over to on , bump it to start and turn it back to off for 5 secs this is the only way our 2000 grand am will start on first try! works everytime was worried of a more serious problem ove time as well but works for now
Likely fuel pressure problem. Either the fuel pump is going bad or there's a loss of pressure in the system because of bad hoses, bad clamps, or a small leak. The first time you try to start it, the fuel pump is repressurizing the system, then when you start the second time, it has enough gas to actually start.
