Sounds like the good old fuel pump relay problem, typical for these cars. Open the hood and remove the fusebox cover (4 torx screws) to gain access to the relays located there. One of them is probably a green one (I think it's labeled 103). If so you have the old type of relay and should replace it with the new and improved one, which is red (I think the part # is 9434225, but just make sure that you get a RED relay). A used one is cheap and should do just fine.

Like tonygrantham said; the problem is with spark, fuel delivery or compression. Checking a plug for spark is easy: Just unscrew it and hold it to ground with a pair of insulated pliers or something similar while the problem is present. Have someone crank the engine while you look for spark. If the engine starts while lacking one plug it will sound horrible, but will not be harmed as long as you don¨'t run it for long and don't rev it.
If you've got both spark and fuel you might want to check compression and timing even though they are, in my opinion, unlikely culprits.

what trouble codes do u have?
2000 Tahoe 2 wheel drive. At a stop light went to take off and nothing. let off pedal. gas again and slowly moves. parked it . 25 minutes later started up ran fine. pulled it up on ramp tow truck. was 3 cities from home. next day tried it out. drove bout 5 minutes perfect then same thing again. help me.
