Wont start My 93 volvo 850 GLT sat for about 4 or 5 months and when I went to start it it was dead. No sound at all so I replaced the battery and now it cranks but wont start up. When I first tried it started but only for a second or two and died. Now it wont start at all. Just cranks. I tried the holding in the gas pedal and cranking for a minute and that was no help. What can I do?

Thank you! The plugs were under a plate in which i removed. Took off a wire and the metal piece is deep inside of a rubber housing. I tried getting it to the plug and did not ever see a spark. Would i though if that rubber piece is there? I havent tried the fuel rail yet. Ill look for that piece. Can i use a regular tool to remove the plugs or is it something special?

First things first. You need to find out if its getting spark and fuel. You can find out if its getting spark by taking any plug wire off and holding it just above the plug.have someone else try to start the car.if you see spark then you have it.for fuel look on the fuel rail.that is located on the top of the motor.its metal. look for something resembling a valve stem on it.push in the schrader valve and have someone turn the key off and on if fuel comes out you have fuel

Volvo 850 glt starts runs short time cuts off barrtey dead again what is problem

The voltage should be between 13 and 14V when the engine is running. If not, 12V or less, you most likely have an charging problem. You need to remove the alternator and get it checked then get it rebuild.

I have a 1994 volvo 850 GLT. Radio reset code

You will need to turn the ignition to the number 1 position and turn the radio on. It can take several hours, but the word code should come back on. When that happens, you will need to put the correct code in. If you don't have it, a Volvo dealer can give you the correct code from your VIN.

MY 1995 volvo has power but wont start

volvo 1995 850 glt- same problem- turn key no crank no noise.
lights on dash come on.
1.) removed battery ground wire for 2 minutes.
2.) took wire to ground and moved to back of battery and jiggled it around
3.) connected battery
4.) car starts up-
Not starter,not solenoid,not battery,not ignition switch

ANSWER-Ground wire to chasis not getting good contact- replace battery ground cabel and make a better connection to the chassis.

Hope this is it- my car has had this happen for an extended period of time- have not found complete resolution to date- Please let me know when you find a solution.-JMM

How to remove a coil from a 93 850 glt volvo?

The ignition coil is on the drivers side fender well just aft of the air box. You'll see the wire coming from it to the distributor cap. It's held in place by 2 10MM bolts.

1993 Volvo GLT 850 Electrical things won't work

I'd be taking the dash apart looking for burnt wires in a harness, so you will likely have to take the outer cover off some of the bundles. Start tracing back from the plug in for the radio. Hope this helps.

How do i reset the radio code in a volvo 850 glt sedan 1996

go to your local volvo dealership, and you must have the car in your name, but ask one of the mechanics if you can have the code for your radio, they'll look it up and give it to you I believe.

Hello,
Have you made sure the rotor is turning in the distributor, as this sound like a cambelt failure.
Sorry to bear bad tidings if this is so.
