Part is called the signal canceler. it needs to have the wheel removed to get to it (get a haynes or chiltons manual for instructions) The harness going to it needs to be threaded down inside the housing, but other than that it's not really that hard to do with an instruction guide. (if you don't follow instructions you can end up deploying the air bag (no fun)

How can I take off the tail light assembly to replace the bulb for the left tu

Open the trunk. In the left corner where the lamp assembly is, you should see two screw covers that cover the screws holding in the lamp assembly.

12_5_2012_6_45_21_pm.jpg

Remove these covers to find the screws, and unscrew them to pull the taillamp assembly out of the vehicle body. Disconnect the lamp wiring harness, turn the bulb socket counterclockwise to pull out the socket, revealing the light bulb. Then pull the bulb right out of the socket and replace it with a new bulb.

Replace the socket, turning it clockwise. Replace the taillight assembly. Check that the taillamp assembly tab, located at the bottom of the taillamp assembly, is aligned to the facia bracket before securing the screws.
12_5_2012_6_46_06_pm.jpg

Screw the taillamp assembly back into the vehicle body and replace the screw covers. Check to make sure the new bulb works properly.

Your owners manual specifies that the rear left turn lamp is a lamp with bulb number 3057K. You should be able to find them at any automotive store or from your dealer. Hope this helps.

Where does the flasher go?

Remove the lower dash trim covers from the left side of the Cadillac's dashboard, if so equipped.
    • 3
  • Lie on your back under the left dashboard and look up along the left side of the steering column. Illuminate the area with the flashlight to assist in locating the old turn signal flasher, which mounts on a metal bracket, just above and to the left of the steering column.
  • 4Grab the old flasher by hand and pull it off the bracket. Depending on the model of your Cadillac, you may need to push aside some wiring harnesses to grasp the flasher.
  • 5Plug the new turn signal flasher onto the bracket. Reinstall the lower dash covers, if you removed any in Step 2.
  • 6Place the key in the ignition. Turn the key to the "Run" position.
  • 7Activate the turn signals on the left side of the car and get out and inspect them to make sure both front and rear bulbs are blinking, as designed. Switch the turn signal lever to activate the right signals and visual inspect

Steering column switch keeps turning and the rod is broke in the column

This is a common problem on Fords. You can purchase a new ignition actuator
rod and install it but this is not for a novice to do. It is well worth paying a mechanic
on this one. The following is a post detailing repair, IF YOU DARE.

"Remove the front cover of the steering wheel, take off the screws that are on the back of it. Remove the nut holding the steering wheel on and remove wheel with puller. Unscrew turn signal lever and remove turn signal switch (2 screws) now unplug the turnsignal switch harness, its at the bottom of the column and you can pull it out of your way enough to finish the job. Now remove the first section of collar there are 3 screws holding it in. Next take the needle nose plyers and pull the drift pin at the bottom of the tilt lock. Now run the machine screws into the threaded drift pins on both sides that the assembly pivots on. Now to pull the pins clamp vise-grips on the screw and lightly tap them out with the hammer hitting the vise grips as close to the collum as possible. use snap ring plyers too remove the center bearing and now you can pull off this assembly.( watch out for the large spring-IT CAN FLY OUT AS IT IS UNDER PRESSURE) Now remove the fuse box cover and remove the 2 bolts holding the column up. Now use the alen wrench to remove the 3 screws holding the last collar in place, they are on the backside of it. Now remove the ignition switch from the column. You can now slide the broken actuator and rod for the ignition switch out. Re-assembly is alot easier than taking it apart believe it or not. Make sure and take your time and not loose any parts. I don't recomend this job for people with little paitence. It took me about 3 hours from start to finish.

How to replace the turn signal switch in a 1992 Cadilac?

Turn Signal Switch REMOVAL & INSTALLATION CAUTION
Some models covered by this manual may be equipped with a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS), which uses an air bag. Whenever working near any of the SRS components, such as the impact sensors, the air bag module, steering column, and instrument panel disable the SRS. Deville, Eldorado, Seville, and Fleetwood - Early Models
    1. Disable the SIR system.
      1. On Deville and Fleetwood, remove the left lower sound insulator. On Eldorado and Seville, remove the left side sound insulator.
      2. Remove the Connector Position Assurance (CPA) and detach the yellow 2-way connector at the base of the steering column.
      3. Remove the steering wheel.
      4. Make sure the ignition switch is in the LOCK position to prevent the SIR coil assembly from going off-center.
    2. Remove the SIR coil assembly retaining ring and the coil assembly. Allow the coil to hang freely. WARNING
The SIR coil assembly will become off-center if the steering column is separated from the steering gear and is allowed to rotate or if the centering spring is pushed down, letting the hub rotate while the coil is removed from the column.
    3. Remove the wave washer.
    4. Use tool J-23653-C or equivalents, to depress the shaft lock, then remove and discard the shaft lock retaining ring.
    5. Remove the shaft lock.
    6. Remove the turn signal canceling cam assembly.
    7. Remove the upper bearing spring, upper bearing inner race seat and inner race.
    8. Move the turn signal switch to the RIGHT TURN position.
    9. On Deville, Fleetwood, and 1990 Eldorado, and Seville, remove the multi-function turn signal lever as follows:
      1. Make sure the lever is in the OFF position.
      2. Remove the access cover from the steering column housing.
      3. Detach the cruise control wiring connector. Note the position of the connector when installed in the column.
      4. Pull the lever straight out of the turn signal switch.
    10. On Eldorado and Seville, remove the multi-function turn signal lever as follows:
      1. On 1992-93 vehicles, slide the connector cover toward the front of the vehicle.
      2. Unplug the electrical connector. On 1991 vehicles, note the position of the connector when installed in the column.
      3. Push the lever straight in, rotate clockwise 1?4 turn and pull the lever out of the switch.
    11. On Deville, Fleetwood, and Eldorado and Seville, remove the screw, button, spring, and hazard warning switch knob.
    12. On Deville and Fleetwood, remove the one signal switch arm retaining screw. On Eldorado and Seville, remove the 2 signal switch arm retaining screws. Remove the signal switch arm.
    13. Remove the turn signal switch retaining screws.
    14. Remove the wiring protector and detach the turn signal switch connector.
    15. Gently pull the wire harness through the column and remove the turn signal switch. prev.gif next.gif

How do you replace the front turn signal on a 2005 Buick Terraza?

Changing front, right turn signal on 2005 Buick Terraza: Open hood; when facing the front of vehicle, the right turn signal is on the passenger side (left). The headlight assembly needs to be removed to easily reach the turn signal. On my vehicle, there is a 10 mm screw on the left side. Remove it. There is L-shaped pin on the right side of the headlight assembly. Swing the pin counter-clockwise (to the left). Pull the pin straight up to remove. The headlight assembly is now loose, but there is a pin snapped in a socket on the back of the assembly that still holds the assembly. Pull the headlight assembly hard and straight to the front of the vehicle. When it snaps loose, the assembly is now held just by the rubber gasket surrounding the assembly. You need to gently work the right side of the gasket out of the grill cowling. The assembly should pull straight out. The wires are long enough to lay the headlight assembly in the engine compartment. Finally, the turn signal is now accessible. Twist the light holder counter-clockwise and pull out the light holder. Change the bulb. Do not punch your man-card for credit until you have successfully reinstalled the headlight assembly. It goes back in a little easier the second time. Once you have put the L-pin in place, the screw back, and successfully tested the lights, you can now punch your man-card.

I give the mechanical engineers and designers a D-minus instead of an F only because I was successful on the first try. No light bulb on anything commonly used by people should be this hard to figure out.
