A flashing hold lights indicates the transmission control unit is trying to tell the engine control that something is wrong, usuqlly its a senor . my 2001 sportage does it regularly and then stops, hasnt caused a problem in years.
I am having the same problem on my 2003 kia sportage. It went off 2 weeks ago and then I got it to turn off by unplugging the battery over night but now it came back on. let me know if you get a solution that works please

We unhooked the battery and left it unhooked all night. This morning when he reconnected it and started it, it started right up and the hold light and our check engine light went off. We did press the hold button and it came on and went back off when we hit it again.

Code number p1624 is MIL Request Signal from TCM to ECM. which means malfunction indication light(MIL) is requesting a signal from your engine control module(ECM) or Transmission control module(TCM) i would reccomend u take it to the dealership to get it checked out.

Look on the shifter lever,just bellow the push button. There is another push button there. That's the one you press or depress to keep the transmission on 3rd. gear. Just press it again and the hold light should come off.

are u sure the button isn't pushed on the side of shifter...If its flashing i am not sure. when i go out 4x4ing mine flashes then a few days later it goes out....
