You should have a high speed blower relay that provides power on high, and the other speeds go thru a resistor.
The problem could be the actual fan control switch, or the resistor.

The blower motor is on the passengers side under the dash. You might have to remove the a lower panel. This is the insulator panel. If the blower works at all just turn it on and follow the noise.Hope this helps.Good luck.

SOURCE: heater blower motor works intermittently

I would replace the blower motor, this sounds like a motor brush problem inside the motor itself.

No the motor is not bad or going bad, the heater blower motor resister is bad, thats regulates the blower speeds, its located under dash by heater motor 2 screws hold in heater box with a electrical plug to it.

Blower motor not working 2005 GMC sierra resister ground pin burnt

small_car4.png Wiring problem of the 2005 GMC Sierra 1500 6 Failure Date: 07/18/2009

The connector that plugs into the blower motor under the glove box became too hot and melted the plastic resulting in the a/c and heat not to work (this includes the windshield defroster). I've been looking up problems and solutions and found that this is a recurring problem with GMC and chevy trucks yet there has not been any recall, in fact the dealerships have an extremely overpriced kit to fix their faulty wiring. About 66,000 mi.

I Have an 03 gmc sierra 2500hd. the problem is the manual speed control knob for the heat/ac only work at the highiest setting. all of the lower speed controls don't work. What do you think is the problem?

there is a resister near the blower motor that controls the fan speeds that is most likely your problem when it goes bad the blower motor will only work on high i have changed many of them on many cars & trucks

1995 GMC Sierra fan blower not working.

In the beginning you should check for voltage and ground.
The 50amp fuse marked AC powers the blower motor and the motor is grounded.
The high speed relay bypasses the resistor. So you should have power coming from the fuse and thru the high relay. Then the resistor for the other speeds gets power from the heat and ac control module which also controls the blend doors.
You may need a shop manual or repair book to get the diagrams.

2004 GMC Sierra 4dr truck. the fan does not work

The switch or the wire harness at the blower motor has gone bad. The highest setting 5 has no resistor, so the blower runs on high but the high current flow ends up burning up the switch's contact on that setting or the resistor wire harness at the blower motor has gone bad. Common would be the switch it self, if the switch is good. Then it's going to be the wire leads at the speed resistor by the blower motor under the glove box by the passenger leg compartment. Keep me posted, be glad to help you get your Sierra running 100% again soon.

I have a 97 SIERRA. HEAT WORKS FINE ON DRIVERS

If you have climate controls that are "slide type" knobs...likely that the cable that controls the diverter panel in the blower box is broken....
