Don`t sound good, but i would see if water was circulating in radiator when warm, and check if fan comes on like it is supposed to to cool it ,if water does not circulate check hoses to make sure the suction does not restrict flow ,if no circulation you could try replacing thermostat (cheapest fix ) anti-freeze dilution (second cheapest ) or uh-oh maybe blown head gasket......

SOURCE: engine is over heating and blowing air into coolant resivor and boiling coolant

1. Do you have a cooling fan system for your car, if you have , please check it, sometimes due to the wire overheated short problem and fan doesn’t work and cause the engine over heat.

2. If the head gasket leaking, you can check you oil steak see if there is white steam oil bubbling ,if the oil has steam and the radiator has oil mixed with coolant , that means the head gasket leaking.

SOURCE: 99 DODGE STRATUS RADIATOR OVERFLOW BOTTLE

Double check that your rad cooling fan is operating as it should, but after that, I'd be looking at a good rad flush, or rad replace. Believe it or not, your heater core is like a small rad, and when you turn the heater on, it actually cools the circulating coolant, slighly, and therefore shows a difference on your gauge. Like I said, make sure the rad fan is coming on when engine temperature is at normal or slightly higher, and if it is, then I'd be taking a close look at my radiator, especially if it wasn't replaced when headgasket was done.

SOURCE: 2004 dodge ram 4.7 liter v8 overheating after

I have a 2004 4.7 dodge ram that the coolant gauge goes to 3/4 when towing my bass boat in the afternoons on hot days,I had the water pump replaced because it was wobbling at the pulley, covered under 7/70 power train.Acouple of weeks later towing again had the same problem, the turn on the heater and all is well after 2 to 3 minutes, replaced thermostat and saved and re-used coolant dealer put in and problem still there. At this point I contacted the techs at the dealer and talked with them and we all agreed radiator.Removed the radiator and took to rad shop and had it checked, found radiator plugging up,Now as to why.The antifreeze that chrysler uses is a HOAT type antifreeze, hybrid organic acid technology, with silicates and friction modifiers, this antifreeze CANNOT BE USED WITH TAP WATER OR WELL WATER OF ANY KIND,as it states in the owners manual.Only 1 dealer in this area apparently knows this but this is not the dealer that i took it to.The silicates in this antifreeze when mixed with the wrong water type will seperate and and become heavier and then start to gel and plug the passages in the radiator. This truck only has 46,443 miles on it and mostly used just to tow the boat.Hope this helps everyone else with this problem. Will be contacting Chrysler about this and the improper repairs that are being performed at their dealerships.Lester [email protected].

SOURCE: I have a 2000 lincoln Ls V8 3.9.. The coolant boils, i relpaced the water pump as well as the thermostat. What causes the coolant to boil??

1st, test the water pump and make sure with the belt off, that it turns freely now that you've installed it. Sometimes the impeller is not pressed on completely, and these don't turn properly.

Maybe you did this but just in case:

Always free spin anything installed , IE: water pump, oil pumps, alternator, generators, camshafts, crankshafts, etc., before moving to the next step.

2nd. Verify the belt installation. With today's serpentine belts, a wrong turn may cause the pump to run backwards, but seem correct. There should be a specific diagram under the hood or on the fender.

3rd. If the Belt's OK, Pump's OK, and you have properly installed the new Thermostat. (I have seen them installed upside down and they won't work that way.) If you filled it properly, making sure it was 100% full, then you may be dealing with a blown head gasket, cracked head, or a cracked cylinder wall.

I hope this helps & good luck!

FLUSHING?
tell all evidence of over heating from a list.

  1. coolant on the ground
  2. explosive steam and coolant blasting to the top of the Radiator over flow bottle (plastic).
  3. coolant on front passengers toes leaking heater core or 2 hoses there leaking.
  4. dash gauge heat pegs
  5. radiator neck cap off each morning show missing coolant there.
  6. engine pings (knock/detonation) to hot.
  7. engine power drops lots. or even stalls.
  8. scans of PID name ECT shows temps from 225 to 265f, 50%AF antifreeze boils at 265f so that.
  9. see coolant under hood leak or spray or drip anywhere there,
  10. water pump drips or oozes.
the next is is bigger list true causes.
ask or get the car checked out at a real shop.

car over heating because thermostat faulty its stuck closed not opening allowing coolant flow from engine to radiator.hot climate need 50/50 antifreeze and water.straight water will boil away at 212 degrees. engine can get hot as 225 degrees you need add coolant to raise engine coolant boiling point temperature.

Will the thermostat make your car run hot

an faulty thermostat will make the car boil but the water will normally go to the resevoir bottle. I be checking for burst radiator hose or cracked top tank before anything else. Thermostats are c;osed when the engine is cold and as the water heats up they open and allow water to pass through the radiator to cool. Coolant over the engine means boiling and escaping through an opening (hose, tank punctured radiator etc)

THE WATER IS BOILING IN A WATER BOTTLE

This can be caused by a defective radiator cap or improper coolant mix, it should be 50/50.

We changed the radiator and hoses and the thermostat and the cap to the radiator and the water pump it is still over heating what else could be wrong with it please help already spent to much money on it...

heres a couple of cheap ideas If after changing coolant or any time you have worked on the system, you must bleed all air out of the cooling system. Trapped air can cause an air pocket which will cause a hot spot and overheating. Some cars have bleeder screws and some don't. Check your owner's manual. If there is no bleeder valves and you suspect trapped air, park the car uphill or jack up the front, start the engine with the radiator cap removed and run until it reaches operating temp.

Common cause for this is too much water, not enough antifreeze. Evaporation is called "boil over". Adding antifreeze to water increases its boiling point. Since water boils at 212 degrees, and (my car) optimal operating temperature is 190 degrees - there is a thin line from running normal to "boiling over". Solution - the mix in the radiator should be 50% antifreeze and 50% water. To get the correct ratio antifreeze to water, buy a coolant test kit or buy your coolant in pre-mixed bottle.

also,, are you sure the fans are operating correctly !!

Hi my 2003 chevy avalanche low coolant light is coming on but coolant level is good ,and my water is boiling out of the coolant bottle ,

Hi and welcome to FixYa!

You may have a faulty radiator blower motor. If the blower blows weak it will surely be not enough to make the engine cooled down. One good reason the water boils on the bottle. Another issue can be a clogged radiator and a faulty water pump. These can make the engine hot too when faulty. Please give enough attention on the possible causes to prevent severe damage to the truck.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

Coolingsystem. exspansion tank leakage. maybe the

you said " till the water dissapears" , I am hoping that you are not running just strait water in the cooling system. Especially in a hot climate.
You must have antifreeze/coolant for the system to work properly. It will dramatically raise the boiling tempreture. If you run strait water , as soon as the engine reaches 100 c the water boils , and the pressure of the steam could burst a hose , or an expansion bottle. If your expansion bottle keeps failing , I would look at it as the effect of the problem , not the cause of the problem.
