just installed new starter on 2000 chevy s-10 3 days later altenator not working right just 12v have to keep on charge. now there is no power nothing works no lights no nothing just like there is no battery. when i go to put on charge the hand pegs out on the charger and shuts down .. someone said i may have a short . what are some things i can do to check for a short and are there any related problems with this vechicle . all fuses ok .. tried battery again and the positive cable got real hot . thank you if you can help Comments: Jun 09, 2009- i have taken the starter back off and .tried to reconnect battery .and still nothing with the starter not even on the truck . the positive side gets real hot and sparks, thank you
