I have a 2004 Saab 93 turbo. It leaks oil from the oil filter cap. I replaced the gasket when I changed the oil and oil filter, but it still leaks. What should I do? There are so many people out there with the same problem that have taken their saabs to so many garages but the mechanics out there don't know where the leak is from, I figured it out the minute I saw it. Please help. Thanks

Have the crankcase pressure tested.the turbo is intercooled.if there is a cooler leak,it could be pressurising the crankcase causing a leak.make sur the cap is torqued to spec.the other solution is to use rtv sealant.it will still come off when needed.

SOURCE: changing spark plugs on saab 93 turbo 2.0

to replace the spark plugs you need to remove the ignition cassette which is held in with 4 t-30 screws and the plugs are underneath that.

Saab 93 runs hot no leaks and fan works is this a sign of a weak gasket. there is no oil in coolant and no signs of water on the dipstick

While there are a variety of reasons your Saab 9-3 is overheating, the most common 3 are a coolant leak (water pump, radiator, hose etc.), the radiator fan, or a failed thermostat.

Im having problems with my 2004 saab 93 1.8i linear. It is showing up lambda on the computer. I need help asap please.

You need to check for an engine vacuum leaks like at the intake gasket. Use a can of carburetor spray and spray it over the intake area, if the engine changes sound you have a leak.

I had a coolant loss problem, we replaced the head gasket, had the head pressure tested, put everything together and we still have a coolant loss, could it be the turbo which is water and oil cooled? or...

dear friend- your turbo is not oil coold, but if you put a pressure tester on pump it ti 15psi and then let it stand for a while look for external leaks if nothing see if the pressure has dropped,if no external leaks were found and the pressure has dropped,it must be internal,if the pressure did not drop then i think the water cap is faulty.

I cant seem to find dipstick to check automatic t5ransmision fluid on 2004 saab 93...?where is it located?

Look in the narrow open space between the 12 volt batty and the black plastic valve cover (which says SAAB turbo. Look straight down. It is close to the oil filter cap if you already know where that is. But farther down on the engine body. The "Automatic Transmission Dip Stick" is the short green plastic thing next the to tranmission housing. It is held in place with a bolt. It is accessible only from below when the car is on a lift

Cant find oil filter

First, it ain't easy.

I finally found the oil filter with its screw off top. It is on the right front side of the engine (left of the Battery) and just visible (with a flashlight) about two inches below the black plastic cover. Removing the cover is unnecessary and doesn't help much even if you do.

I slipped a CFA size 6 filter remover cap over the plastic top - I think that you can also use a 32mm ratchet on the hexagonal molded piece on top. In either case, I suggest applying a bit of new oil by finger around the edge of the screw on cap prior to trying to ratchet it off - either with the CFA size 6 or the 32mm fitting.

It comes off counter-clockwise and you won't have much room to work - about 3 inches of play. Once you get it started, remove the ratchet and remove by hand. Have some paper towels to wrap around the assembly when you remove it.

Discard the old inner filter and install the new one. Remember to look at the old one before you remove it so you can install the new one correctly.

Finally, by hand reinstall the filter and cover. Twist the cover on clock-wise until it is hand tight. You can use your ratchet to tighten and extra quarter or eighth turn if you like but I don't feel it is necessary.

Hardly worth doing yourself but a change at a garage with 6.3 quarts of 0W30 fully synthetic oil cost a pretty penny.

Sounds like it's time for a compression check. The head or gasket could be blown, and this test will confirm or deny this fact. Your smoke/steam and the oily residue are pretty good clues...accordianman

Oil change

Yes, filter is under plastic cover, and be sure to use SYNTHETIC OIL ONLY! Good luck!
