I would check the fuses first then the fan relay , if you find two identical relays you just have to swap them to determine if there any good , if the fan starts working then get a new relay, if the fan still won't work then replace the fan thermo switch (usually located in the bottom part of the radiator facing the engine) if the fan still wont work then replace it. The best way to test the whole system out is to start the car and turn on the air conditioner (and blower fan) this should turn on both your fans, if the fans dont come on , check the fuses, relay and then fan motor then thermoswitch
If the relay is getting too hot, the most common problem is a faulty radiator fan. The fan motor pulls current thru the relay. The radiator fan motor may be failing after it runs for a period of time.
To check the fan motor you would use a jumper wire to bypass the relay. You can also swap the relay with another one that has the same configuration. You may need a wiring diagram to trace the wires.
Good Evening. The location of the fan motor relay on the 2001 Dodge Grand Caravan is behind the grille right on top before the air conditioning condenser. I hope this helps with your location, and if you have any more questions please feel free to ask.
driver side strut tower
firs and last relay any way u want to look at it dont mind the other relays just the two outer relays
make sure the ecu signal is working
warm up the car and disconnect fan motor make sure tha you have ggod ground get a test light and check for the litr green wire to see if its going to send signal to the wire
dont think so,seem to remember a reostat somewhere at the bottom of the rad right hand side ,check for earth problems as well ,sorry if vague but i seem to be forgetting things as i get old .
i had the same problem, i dont remember the name of the piece but its mounted right in between the driver side headlight and the radiator. its a relay that turns the fans on when the car gets hot. its mounted on the body of the car. there should be wires leading from the radiator to the piece im talking about.... good luck I also paid about 35 dollars for the piece
A) Faulty turn signal switch or circuit. B) Broken dimmer switch or poor electrical connection.Could be relay also. C) Unplug the electrical connector at the motor and use fused jumper wires to connect the fan motor directly to the battery. If the fan still doesn't work replace the motor. If fan works could be your relay.
