SOURCE: Transfer case leak

You mean between the case halves? It is just silicon, no gasket. These are good for the pump wearing a hole in the rear housing and leaking oil. The cure for it is a new rear housing and a piece called a case saver that keeps the pump from doing it again. Taking the transfer case apart to fix it is easy, I can tell you how to do it.

SOURCE: front drive shaft/transfer case removal 03 chevy trailblazer 4wd

Sounds like you got it. They are heavy and ocward (spelling?). As for the front drive shaft take the bolts out and give it a couple of wacks with a dead blow hammer then slide it out. Maybe a few days before hand give it a good spray down with wd40 or like product. Also when you get to the last bolt for the t-case to trans loosen it half way then put a drain bucket under it and seperate it a little and let the trans fluid drain some, or you will be wearing it.

Why wont my 2002 chevy tahoe go in to fourwheel drive i can hear both acutores kick in

There could be a few possible causes for your 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe not going into four-wheel drive when you engage the system. Some common issues include:

The four-wheel drive system may not be properly engaged. Make sure that the four-wheel drive switch is in the correct position and that you are following the proper procedure for engaging the system.

The four-wheel drive system may be mechanically damaged. This could be caused by a problem with the transfer case, the drive axles, or other components of the system.

There may be a problem with the four-wheel drive system's control module or other electrical components.

There may be a problem with the four-wheel drive system's vacuum lines or other mechanical components.

To troubleshoot the issue, you can try the following steps:

Check the four-wheel drive switch and make sure it is in the correct position.

Check the four-wheel drive system's control module and make sure it is functioning properly.

Check the four-wheel drive system's vacuum lines and make sure they are not damaged or disconnected.

If the issue persists, it may be necessary to have the vehicle inspected by a qualified mechanic.

If you are not comfortable performing these steps, or if the issue persists after trying these troubleshooting steps, it may be a good idea to contact a mechanic or a Chevrolet dealership for further assistance.

Is there an electric or vacuum switch on a 2001 chevy blazer

There are 2 models here the push button will flash if the system is not engaging or disengaging properly . If front drive shaft is turning. That is with car raised and supported . if front drive axles do not turn then the axle actuator is not engaging axle shaft passenger side. Remove actuator and manually engage shifting collar with a screwdriver still does not turn then inner axle is twisted.

My 1994 Chevy 1500 4x4 wont go into four wheel drive.

Sounds like the problem that I had with my '94 chev sub k1500, twice!
The first time it was due to a blown fuse. Now I carry a spare 20A fuse when I go off-road.
The second time the electrically controlled/heated, fluid filled actuator mounted on the front diff failed. I now carry a spare actuator when I go off-road.
the actuator is powered when the switch on the top of the transmission is energized. I have had no problems with that switch, or the connecting wiring.

Front tires wont engage in four wheel drive

if the actuateor is vacumed, you might have have a hose that came off or it has a split in it somewhere, check that.or if you have posilock hubs one or both may be wore out or lacking grease, they are easy to remove, just a hex wrench and snapring pliers is all you need, remove and inspect for obvious sighns of wear.

1988 ford ranger push button four wheel drive an it wont engage all the wires are good it just clicks when u push the button.. what should i look for to make the four wheel drive work again it wont...

Start out with buying yourself a $25 book from the Parts House. The I would go to the front HUBS, secure & safety vehicle before you do anything, Clean, Inspect, Lune & Repair front Hubs as required, get the brakes while you're there. Check your drive line, axles, u-joints etc. Clean , repair , replace as needed. Check for Tranfer case Operation. Is there power going to the front Axle when 4WD is engaged? do you feel a change when you engage the Transfer Case? Have you checked the Power on the circuits? Have you Manual or Auto-locking Front Hubs? Answer all those Questions & read before you do anything.

4wd wont work on 1999 chevy tracker but front drive shaft is turning?

The locking hub control system is not engaging properly. On the 99 Tracker this is a compressed air system that consists of an air pump (compressor), electrical wiring to power and control the air pump, and air hoses that lead to an actuator inside the front differential housing. If there is a leak in the system the PCM will run the air pump for 10 seconds and then shut off, and your propeller shaft can turn all day long, but the front axles will remain free floating. Turn on your key, not your engine, and engage four wheel high. Go listen near the passenger front bumper for the air compressor. If you hear it, then the compressor control and the compressor itself are likely fine. If it shuts off after 10 secs or so, and your 4WD light isn’t on, the PCM timed out the compressor out and shut the compressor off to protect it. You will have to find the leak and fix it. If you are lucky, it’s the air line leading to the front differential; and not the air line inside the differential housing, or the air bladder in the locking actuator, which also resides inside the font diff. If the compressor shuts off and the 4WD light is on (this means the PCM did not shut the air compressor off due to timeout, so the pressure switch read 5-7 psi and the pump shut itself off), you likely don’t have a leak, and something mechanical has the actuator hung up inside the front differential. Lastly if you don't hear the compressor run at all, you either have a faulty compressor, or some sort of wiring problem in that circuit.....it could be as simple as a blown fuse. Good luck.
