Ive just noticed recently that my steering wheel is shaking back and forth. Its not a violent shaking, rather mild i would say. The brake pads and rotors are all good and the tire pressure is also good. The tires are old and in need of replacing soon, but this problem just all of a sudden started to happen after the last snow storm we had. the shaking also is only noticable at low speeds 5 to 30 miles an hour. doesnt happen when applying the brakes.

I believe you need your disk brake rotors turned to be true again or have them replaced. Whe you use your brakes a lot and kit puddles of cold water then it will warp the rotors which will cause the violent shaking. You may not feel it in the brake pedal even if it is warped rotors. If you don't think you have warped rotors then you should be very careful driving it because it will probably be in the steering sector arm or the idler arm on the steering shaft.

have the rotors machined, shaking when braking is an indication of a warped rotor or drum, even though it may look ok, the rotor can still be warped, it would be a good idea to have the rotors/drums machined and new pads installed if the old ones are 4-5/32'nds or lower. that should take care of your shaking when braking issue

check the idler arm on the steering drag link
