What would cause the the instrument pannel voltage regulator to fail on a 66 mustang? The gauges do not work mow.

It's called a CVR, constant voltage regulator, to keep all gauges with same voltage all the time, regardless of spikes. They seldom fail. I did not think we used one back in 66, but I did not start working for Ford until 1975. I would replace it and seee what happens. Let me know.

When I start my 1966 mustang the gas gauge goes to just under 1/4 full. The gas gauge never moves from there. I just bought the car and do know there is an electric fuel pump. anyone have any ideas on what...

The float inside the fuel tank that measures how much fuel is in the tank needs to be replaced. The unit will register 8 OHMS if its any good off the wire leading from it when its at the full position

It is mounted on the passenger side, front fender about 2" inside of the finder edge and about 1" forward of the rear edge of the cowl vent. This photo gives you a good look. http://www.mustangdreams.com/Ford-Mustang-1966.htm To get an exact measurement find a 1964-73 Mustang and measure it.
