Check for vacuum leeks on. The lines running the selection of heat may have a leak. Sometimes it's that easy, sometimes!

Flapper doors control whether air goes through the heater core or not. Vacuum controls these doors by operating flapper door actuators which sometimes fail.

SOURCE: 1998 Dodge Durango blows cold air when using heater

The problem that has caused this cold air only issue is the Air Temerture Control Blend Door Actuator Motor, this motor is on the ouside of the air duct about center of the dash, in order to access and replace it u must remove the entire dash assembly. this is about a 12-15 hour job.

SOURCE: 1999 Dodge Dakota heater does not blow hot air.

It is most likely a closed or mostly closed thermostat, cheap fix and very common.

How do I fix the heat

You have one of two problems. The heater core is plugged /
restricted or there is an inoperative internal blend door motor problem. Start the vehicle and let it reach operating temperature. Feel the hoses under the hood that go into the heater core. They should be close to the same temperature. If one is hot and the other luke warm/cold.... the heater core is plugged/restricted. If both hoses are near the same temperature, suspect a defective/non operational blend door motor that controls heat/cold/airflow attached to the heater box assembly

Is there a relay for the heat, sometimes there is heat sometimes not. one heater hose hot one warm. or is the heater coil clogged

Probably the heater core. I backflushed my Dodge Dakota and that fixed the problem. Determine which hose is the supply and the rerurn hose. Take them both loose and back flush with your outside hose pipe. Do NOT turn the hose on full blast you could damage the heater core. I opened my hose bibe 1 turn open after fitting a connection to the heater hose. I back flushed, then forward flushed and back flushed a 2nd time. I saw it done on You Tube. Fixed my Dodge! Blows HOT air now!!

Heatdoesn't work, A/C blows out warm air and defrosts blow out cold air

Right think the problem is the heater core is blocked with corrosion ,now remove the bottom hose from the rad and the heater hoses then flush every which way you can including through the heater core reversing direction then ,refit all the hoses fill with water only and see if heater works if so the remove the bottom hose again and drain ,then add a minium of 3 litres of antifreeze ,its a anti corrosion agent as well as antifreeze and without it the internal of the engine will corrode and the slurry will block the heater first then the radiator ,

1992 Dodge Dakota 2wd 3.9L V6 Air conditioning/Heater dosent blow? when i turn the air or the heat on i can hear the compressor kick on but it dosen't blow cold or hot? any help would be appreciated

Roger it sounds like the blower motor is not comming on. There is a resistor network located in the engine compartment on the passenger side mounted to the firewall, that controlls the blower motor. The connections may have corroted or the unit itself is bad. That was the first thing I had to relpace when I got my used 92 Dakota. There is also a 30 amp fuse in the fuse box under the dash board . If that is blown I would suspect the blower motor is seized up or just pulling too much power.

Have a 1998 dodge caravan blows cold only new thermastst flushed system new anti freeze help

Most likely the problem is a broken blend door inside the heater box or a broken adjuster cable going to the blend door, the blend door inside the heater box is responsible for heater output depending on your temp adjustment on your heater control panel, most likely the blend door is stuck in the cold position allowing cold air to come through the vents verses allowing the blower motor to blow warm air past the hot heater core to produce heat, check the temperature adjuster cable behind your heater controls and make sure its connected and not broken, lastly make sure the blend door isnt broken and operating freely.

1999 dodge dakota blows cold air at idle but heat warms up when revved. would like a solution to this heater problem. I live in alaska and need the heat to function properly. already flushed the heater...

Sounds as if the engine is not building up temp due to cooling system working. If engine temp gage is reading low try covering 1/3 of radiator with a piece of cardboard "Bumper side" to reduce the cooling effect.. just watch temp and out side temps if warming up outside or heavy driving remove the blocking to allow full cooling
