What if the fan belt break while driving

Dan h described what would happen if your timing belt/chain broke.. fortunately the consiquences aren't as dire if your SERPENTINE belt snaps. Most vehicles have the following systems or devices powered by the front engine accessory drive belt (FEAD belt)
AC compressor
Power steering pump
Alternator
Fan (some vehicles do and some don't)
Water pump

All but one of these things can be lived without, at least for a short time. If your belt snaps and your water pump stops your engine will overheat in no time flat., say you're cruising through a rural area and your belt snaps a mile and a half away from the next town, your car will get you there, but you had better turn it off once you get into town. After a belt snaps you've got 2 miles before you absolutely need to shut your car down to avoid damage.

Why does my pontiac torrent overheat when ac is on

sensors......Water temp sensor, air flow temp sensor, MAP sensor, Idle speed control solenoid, throttle position sensor, O2 sensor.........
Engaging AC draws on power from your motor, resulting in the ECU having to compensate to keep revs stable. Increased revs result in increased air flow, water flow, fuel flow & exhaust emissions.
Check belts for your AC pump first, as the same belt may drive your water pump. If it slips under load when the AC is on, ..................... Say no more. Next replace Water temp sensor. No luck..... ISC solenoid....

Aircon belt snapped, can i still drive my citi golf

It won't hurt the AC compressor. As long as the belt doesn't also drive the water pump or alternator, you should be fine without the AC belt.

Good day i need advice on what to do. my cams are running dry but the oil light is not showing me a signal of it its still off. i think it could be running dry because my cambelt has snapped twice after...

"my cambelt has snapped twice"
doom.
if you keep snapping belts, the engine is toast.
at the least the head is wrecked.
you skipped the 60k service points, so now must pay the gods
of physics. (he is called the cruel god of entropy) "sorry !"

the cam belts do not last the LIFEof any engine., not even close.

time to go to mr, goodwrench , any ASE mechanic will tell you the truth. any.

I have a 1986 Olds Cutlass Ciera with a 2.5l 4

Remove the belt from any pulley. Go from pulley to pulley and make sure they are all free wheeling obviously you won't be able to turn the crank pulley. Spin your alternator pulley and listen to it. It should be silent and smoothe. If you hear any bearing noise from the tensioner, the alternator, the AC comppresor, I would do this soon, you've spent on belts what an alternator would cost. Also check the idler pulley if this is a serpentine type belt.
