I have a 2003 Cadillac CTS and the passenger side headlight is out. I replaced the bulb and the fuse but neither work, the fuses keep blowing out any solutions?

Bad short. check connector and ballast.

SOURCE: lowbeam headlight not working

I went to the dealer, the parts for this are back ordered... must be a common problem.

The terminal clips weaken over time, then fail. They need to be replaced, if you go the the Volvo dealer and ask they may help you out. Failing that, you could contact Volvo directly and ask them. They may make good for you. If nobody will help you, maybe the NHSTA should know about this saftey defect...

chapmnfarm: your head lights use a "2" fuse system.
one for the left and one for the right.
The fuse box you are looking for is under the hood on the passenger's side. It is a black box roughly 8 inches long and 4-5 inches wide. When you remove the cover, you will see fuses and relays. What you are looking for is the section in the box which has a cluster of 7 fuses. 3 in one row and 4 in the other. On the outer parameter are two relays. The fuses you are interested in are located in the row of 4 fuses, with the two closest to the "L" shaped part of the box. Both of those should be 15 amp fuses.
The fuse below those should be a 20 amp which is the lighting switch and the one below it is a 15 amp which is for the interior lights and the clock.
Check your harness grounds in the engine compartment near the area you have the problem. There are ground wires which come out of the harness on both sides of the core support. The wires are black in color and have "EYES" crimped onto the ends of the wires. Both of them will probably be located about 4-6 inches below the upper tie bar on each side of the radiator. Odds are that the eyes will be large enough to pass a 6mm bolt through.

SOURCE: Blows fuses when parking lights are turned on. Headlights work fine even running lights.

If it only happens when you turn the switchto the parking lights then it is most likely the swich that is the problem. Light swich failure appears to be a common fault with fords

If the bulb has a black plastic base it is a halogen bulb and has no ballast. If it has a metal base it is an HID bulb and the ballast is inside the metal base. The HID bulb looks like this:

Passenger side low beam headlight wasn't working. drivers side ok. Replaced bulb--still won't work. checked fuses. they are ok.


You may want to try a different bulb. There is a chance you bought a dud. Check for power with a test light. If no power keep checking back until you find some. Check the ground wire.

2003 altima headlight fuse keeps blowing on passenger side


The most likely cause would be a wire chaffed through and shorting out on the body. Pull the plug in off the light and start tracing it back looking for a bare spot. Tape it up with electrical tape and try to re-route it so this doesn't occur again. Hope this helps.

I assume the solution is the same in a CTS as a CTS-V. Remove the plastic molding facing the rear. There are four plastic screws, Unscrew and lift the spare tire cover. Unscrew plastic screws on carpet covering quarter panels pull back for room to work. Each light assembly has two nuts, remove these and assembly will slide out for easy replacement. Since both lights stopped at once, the fuse may be the issue. The fuse box is under the rear seat cushion, behind the driver. Pull the seat up and forward. Pull levers out on each side of fuse box cover and lift. The diagram is inside the fuse box cover. It'll take a 15V. Note: Please take care in replacing and seat and proper seat belt placement. While you're in the backseat, check all the fuses, there's a second fusebox on the passenger side. Also, check floor behind driver's seat for wetness and water. That could cause a short as well. Replaced both headlight bulbs and passenger side light still does not work on 2007 tundra


Check the fuses. I do believe there is a left and right side fuse for the headlamps. For some reason toyotas, especially highlanders, like to blow the fuses when the headlights burn out.

I would recommend you get a hold of GM customer service or someone at a Cadillac dealership that will help you with a wiring diagram because it sounds like there is a bad wire on this car somewhere and also here is number and they might be able to help you too Schram auto and truck parts they sell only GM parts 1-800-292-1032 www.schramauto.com don't let this get you down because it can be fixed

Right side brake light


Did you confirm that the old bulb was bad? Was it slightly dark and the filament broken? Is there moisture getting into the light housing?
