I have a 2004 Yukon Denali there is a ticking noise I hear when I start up ... the ticks get faster as I accelerate ... and slow down at idle ... any suggestions??? thank you

Ticking noise that vary with the rpm indicates a tappet/ cam follower fault or worn rocker bushes and shafts . Where teh racker touches the valve end may be worn and have a spot that is slippng on the valve end and taking up the wear.. Check the top end for this problem. Check for bits loose on the drive belts and if you have a rubber timing belt check it out also

Tapping/ticking noise when rpm goes above 2000 with check oil warning on my chevrolet lumina ls 2005 model

You will have to take an oil pressure reading and compare to specifications. It could be that the pick up screen is plugged. Do not drive the car as damage to engine will occur.

2010 Honda Civic LX light ticking noise at Idle. 49000 miles on it. No Performance problems observed, But I was curious what the noise might be, And if Autozone can check the codes for anything wrong...

I doubt a "ticking" would cause a code unless it was something like a lifter sticking which may cause a misfire but your engine light would be on if this were the case. Now can you at least narrow down the area it is in like maybe one of the pulleys for your drive belt or does it seem to be in the engine itself. You can try taking the belt(s) off and starting the engine for a short time. If the "ticking" goes away without a drive belt(s) on it, then you need to find out what componant (alternator, A/C compressor, Power steering pump...you get the idea) is making the ticking noise. Codes are in most cases dealing with a sensor of some sort. Hope this helped you....

1998 ford mustang knocking noise, ticking sound, idling

forget the boyfriend and take it to an accredited service center for a proper diagnosis and quote
knocks are big ends or mains , and ticks are hydraulic followers
all could be a bad cam but a proper diagnosis will make sure

Ticking noise

It is part of the waste gate just above the gas tank. It periodically checks for leaks and pressurizes and releases. Gives a ticking noise when it does this. Not a problem and GM is aware of this and said its normal on our cars.
