Can i replace the hub and axle in one piece only for the fact that my axle nut is damaged can i pull the axle out of the the transmission and replace the hub and axle I've already replaced pass front axle

The hub needs to be removed from the axle in most cases for the axle to be removed from the vehicle. If you are replacing the axle anyway, you could cut off the end of the spindle with a cut-off disc on a grinder. That way the hub can come off and you can remove the axle. Hope this helps.

That works fine on a relatively new vehicle but one that has run in salt etc you'll save a lot of time if you remove the steering knuckle completey by separating lower ball joint and outer tie rod end ball joint and bring the whole steering knuckle to a bench to separate the hub/bearing. Soak everything with penetrant, loosen the bolts a few turns and try hitting right on the bolt heads. I also made a very sharp wedge from a chisel and rammed it hard on the other side to seoarate the hub. It will finally come apart then you'll see all the **** that was binding it due to an alumininum knuckle re-acting with a steel hub. Clean the hole and grease everything and fit new bearings

When I replace the axle halves, I run the Nut off till it is level with the shaft end. THen take a piece of wood and set it across the shaft and hit the wood with a hammer. Usually only takes one or two hits and pops right out.Then I remove the nut and finish removal . Hope this helps, Good luck and have a great day.

if you had looked at the back side, you'd have seen 3 bolts
holding it on. and that tells you what?, that they are integrated hubs.

you could off them, take them both to a shop, and ask for them to rebuild them at $100 /hr labor, but, i bet they just laugh at you.
I'm not. but why not just remove it , check it and if bad replace it.
take it to any auto-store in town, NAPA is best. and set it on the counter, and say, got this, answer yes.
how to repack unpackable bearings,.DIY.

remove wheel on side. remove brake caliper/brakes, disconnect lower ball joint, remove axle shaft hub nut. push axle out of hub, then pull half shaft out of transmission. install reverse.

replace front axle shaft you need to loosen axle nut with vechicle weight on the wheel just unloosen axle nut dont take axle nut all the way off just loosen it enough first remove hub cap to loosen axle nut.once loosen then raise vechicle remove wheel tire.you need to remove loosen brake caliper bolts just move brake caliper out of way support caliper piece of wire dont have to disconnect brake caliper hose just move it aside let it hang with a piece clothe hanger or piece or cord dont hang caliper by brake hose will damage brake hose.you need to remove brake caliper mounting bracket.go ahead remove axle nut.you have to remove steering knuckle bolts pull steering knuckle out of the strut bracket.you can remove front axle shaft by using large pry bar to the inner cv pry inner cv joint use a little leverage front axle should pop out.when you install new axle shaft push it in place until you hear it snap in place try pull by hand make sure half shaft in place. when done axle nut torque is 191 ft lbs.strut bracket bolts torque at 133 ft lbs.if this is your first time working on vechicle let a garage do the job.but buy the new shaft then take it with you for garage to replace be cheaper take own parts help cut down costs for part just pay for labor.

How to install a cv joint axle in a 1997 toyota corolla


1) Drain the transmission fluid.
2) Remove the cotter pin going through the axle on the front
of the hub nut with some need nose pliers. You may need to
remove the tire to get the cotter pin out. If so, jack up the car,
remove the tire. Take out the cotter pin, put the tire back on and
lower the car.
3) Loosen the hub nut, you will need I think a 32mm deep socket
thats a loaner tool at autozone. But it may not be a 32mm youll
have to figure that out yourself! You you can the socket and return
it and get your money back. Have someone step on the brake pedal.
Put the 32mm socket on the hub nut, attach a breaker bar to the socket
or a ratchet. Have someone step on the brake pedal for you. Then hit the
breaker bar or ratchet with a hammer, these nuts are really hard to remove
thats why im suggesting a hammer. You can also spray some wd-40 on the
nut and let it sit for a while. Then try to take it off.


4) Jack the front end of the car up and put it on some jackstands.
remove the tire.

5) Detach the nut holding on the tie rod end, it has a cotter pin you need to
remove too before you can remove the nut. After removing the nut hit the
tie rod end soildly with a hammer and it will pop out.

6) Remove the screws/nuts holding the ball joint to the lower control arm.
The fasteners are on the very bottom of the hub behind the brake rotor.
Pry the ball joint away from the lower control arm. Then you can pull the whole
hub/brake caliper and rotor away from the car. Then pull the end of the half shaft
from the hub. Then pry the other end of the axle from the transmission with a
crow bar or something similar, and you are done removing the axle. You have to pry
because there is a retaining ring holding the shaft in the transmission. Its a good idea
to replace that retaining ring on the axle. Be careful not to damage the seals where
the axle goes into the transmisson.

7) Reassembly is just doing all these steps in reverse order.

How do i change a cv joint on a 2006 chevrolet equinox


You will have to purchase a new/rebuilt CV axle. The axle is held in place at the hub (wheel) with a large nut that is put on with a lot of torque. If ti is "staked" then you will have to lift the flat spot out of the groove. Once the axle nut is removed, then you will have to seperate the hub from the steering components enough to allow the hub assembly to pull out and let you remove the axle asssembly. Usually removing the lower ball joint and the stabilizer bar will do this. Once the axle is removed from the hub, then you have to pull it out of the transmission. When you pull it out there many be some fluid leak from the transmission so have a drip pan ready. Assembly is basicly the opposite.

Since the axle nut can take up to 150 Ft/Lbs of torque, unless you have a large breaker bar or an air driven impact gun, this is a repair that is best left to someone with the tools needed.

How do i chage a c/v axle on a hyundai tiburon


Specifically for 2003 Tiburon V6 6 speed, but may work for you as well.
-Loosen tire lugs
-Remove center caps with screw driver or similar tool (careful not to scratch caps)
-loosen axle nut

-Jack the car up and place on jack stands
-Chalk rear wheels
-finish removing tire lug nuts and tire
-remove cotter pin and finish removing axle nut
-remove brake pads
-remove caliper and brake assembly
-remove rotor (possible PITA), use extreme caution hammering a stuck rotor!

IMPORTANT STEP:
*remove 2 bolts from strut mount assembly. This will allow you enough clearance to "cleanly" pull axle out with minimal force/hammering. No axle puller tool necessary and no messing with the lower ball joint.

-Now gently tap the axle out of the hub assembly
-pull the rest of the axle out of the hub assembly by hand or pry with long screw driver or pickle fork. Again, since you removed the 2 strut assembly bolts, your hub assembly should have dropped down and away from the axle quit a bit to allow you enough clearance to remove axle from hub assembly

**Follow next steps for DRIVER SIDE ONLY**
-Next, place a fluid pan to catch any leaking trans fluid before removing axle from transmission side.
-Using a long screwdriver or pickle fork, pry the axle away from the transmission
-Remove entire axle and replace with new one
-Installation is reverse of removal steps. (not difficult, just line up the splines and everything should "pop" in place

Cv joint replacement procedure


You will need to replace the entire CV axle. Loosen the axle nut, loosen the lug nuts, lift the car, remove the wheel, remove the axle nut, undo the tie rod end to free the steering knuckle, tap the axle out of the hub, then pry the other end of the axle out of the transmission. When putting the new axle in place, take care not to damage the transmission seals or the hub seals.

Cannot install cv axle on 98 plymouth voyager lefthand side


This is quite a job if your not a mechanic. I did mine a year ago. With the front wheel still on the ground you need to crack and undo the large axle nut on the outside of the brake disk. Jack up and secure whole left side of car. This will tilt the vehicle so the oil wont drain out of the transmission. Remove wheel. Undo 2 large nut and bolts at the bottom of the strut. Makes job easier aswell if you undo brake caliper and remove off disc and also the tie rod end off the arm. This will allow more movement to remove the driveshaft. Pull the hub assembly outwards and push the axle end back thru and out of the hub. After this comes out you need to pull the axle out of the transmission with either a sharp pull or you may need to pry out with a large screwdriver. When fitting new axle into transmission, make sure the gap in the circlip is sitting at the top and down inside the groove si it wont damage the seal on the way in.

you have to raise vechicle.use jack stands.block rear wheels.apply parking brake.when loosen axle nut.its more easier to leave wheel on.let vechicle weight hold wheel from turning while you loosen axle nut.you need to get a 1/2 break bar or large ratchett wrench with a deep socket .you need to buy socket use to remove axle nut a regular socket would probably break.when you remove the axle nut.remove brake caliper and brake pads.set them aside dont disconnect brake caliper.get a piece of wire to hang it out the way.dont use brake hose.could damage it. remove brake caliper support bracket then the rotor.get a hub removing tool remove hub.then loosen hub and bearings bolts .then remove shield hub and bearings assembly with O-ring.disconnect ball joint from steering knuckle using the proper tool.remove the halfshaft assembly and tap the seal from the steering knuckle.remove the steering knuckle from the hub.now that drive axle out the way.get the seal removing tool.its a flat tool with two hooks on it.to pry seal out transmission.or you can use a small chisel to clapse the seal but be careful dont damage the seal housing.when installing new seal coat it with transmission fluid.drive it in using a large socket.if you are reusing same axle replace circlip on the end of it.now putting back together.install a new hub and bearing seal in the steering knuckle with a seal installer tool .install steering knuckle to the strut.lubricate the hub and bearings with grease.install halfshaft.connect ball joint to the steering knuckle .install a new O-ring around the hub and bearing assembly.install hub and bearing assembly into the steering knuckle.tighten bolts to 75 ft lbs.install rotor then brake caliper support bracket bolts 120 to148 ft lbs.this is mounting bracket bolts only not the caliper bolts to brake shoes.put brake shoes and caliper back on torque 38 ft lbs.install shaft washer the axle nut to 180 ft lbs.tighten much as you can.before setting car on ground.to torque it to 180 ft lbs place car wheel back on set it down so the car weight keep wheel from turning.i hope this information works out for you good luck.and work safe.

HOW DO I REPLACE THE INNER CV JOINT BOOT ON A 2001 BUICK CENTUR


I would recommend that you replace the complete axles instead of just the boots. The boots may be busted/worn and when the get torn/busted they allow sand/dirt inside the CV joint and the bearing inside the CV joint become worn, it all depends on how long the boot has been ripped, its easier and a lot less messy to R/I new axle. For the wheel bearings they need to be pressed in by a hydraulic press. As far as the procedure goes you have to elevate the two front wheels and secure by a lift of jack stands, then take off tires and take off brakes/caliper and caliper chair along with the rotors. You have to remove center nut on axles and remove lower ball joint from knuckle assemble/ hub. Then remove bolts holding knuckle/hub to the struts. Pull knuckle from axles and the hub is out. If you don't have a press and the proper tool you can take the two hubs and the bearings to a machine shop and they will press out and pressing new bearing for you. As for the axles they both can then be pulled/pryed out of the transmission at this time and be fixed or replaced. caution look out for leaking transmission fluid when you pull axles out. The axles are only held by licking rings and can be easily pulled or pryed out. Have something ready to catch fluid. Replace axles in the reverse of taking out. use a piece of wood on the end of axle if there is need to tap it back in with a hammer, listen for a click or snap when its goes back in to transmission.
