Question about Pontiac Grand Prix
I was having trouble one day getting my car in gear and had never had that problem before. I eventually got it to work but then I got stuck at work because the button on the knob would push in but not go into gear. A guy helped me take the knob off and he said there was a pin that broke off and I could still drive without the knob. I would just have to push down on the white button but it looks tacky. Do I have to replace the whole knob or can I just buy the pin?

I had the same problem and once I wiggled the shifter enough to get it out of park then the key stuck in the ignition started.

If you're on an incline, that will affect it. Try setting the park brake prior to shifting to park. Also there is a cable/interlok safety system that prevents shifter movement out of park without the brake pedal being depressed, that may need adjustment. Also check under the hood see if the shift selector cable is routed close to the exhaust, it could be melting. And maybe the selector cable needs adjustment.
Good luck with that and let me know if there is anything more I can help with.

Same problem. $800 quote from Dealer for a small plastic part that broke because of terrible design. Nice work Ford. They should be ashamed.
