Buick Rendezvous Head Up Display

2004 Buick Rendezvous Heads up display seems to have stopped working however if a dark cloth is placed over the outside of the windshield you can see the display is working but too dim to see in even the most dim light conditions. If the battery is disconnected and reconnected the display will come back to full brightness for approximately 2 days and then return to the very dim mode. When the outside temperature drops to below zero the display will brighten until the cabin temperature is warm above 25 to 35 degrees. Occasionally when traveling on the highway the display will return to full light and will stay at full brightness for 5-10 miles. When at full brightness the display control can be adjusted from full to low brightness.

Not sure about that one but there is a dimmer wheel by the light switch. move it up and down to dim and brighten the dask lights/cluster. wheel may need replacing. also work the lights on and off switch manually to see if there every thing works smooth or hopes from dim to brite.

It could be the temp sender unit located in the engine compartment. Is this the only part of the console that is bad (ie the compass still functions)? Have you tried unplugging the battery to reset everything?

SOURCE: GM '97 Buick Le Sabre Climate Control flashing display

I did the exact thing with my '98 buick LeSabere. I am certain that the dealer would have to look at the components and relays and fuses. I had problems with Precision tune mechanics telling me there is nothing wrong with the electrical system, even though I still get a Flashing temp gauge and do not get FULL heat even when it's blasted to 90ºf . [Precision Tune got heat on the windshield and floor.] Moreover, the car is possessed with glitches; I am not getting heat on the windshield and the floor is not hot enough to warm the cabin.

Start with the simple and replace the fuel filter. The fuel filter should be replaced every 15,000 miles or once a year to ensure the fuel system is running 100%. Auto Zone will have the fuel filter and can give you the step by step instructions to getting the job done with common tools. If it's the fuel pump failure, you have not gotten the car restarted. Good luck and keep me posted, be glad to know you got your car running 100% again soon and please rate.

ZONE # PRESS & HOLD SET TO CHANGE: This display mode will be displayed when you are manually calibrating the system. I have a 2002 Rendezvous and I have a question about the head up display. It works fine during the day, but just as the evening or early night begins to fall, it is no longer displayed. How can I make it...

IF you have an automatic head light module (Day night operation) check that the power when in the night mode is getting to the display. It may have it's own light sensor that turns on the display light and if so it may be faulty as well.

2004 Buick Rendezvous Heads-Up Display intermittent problems

Your vehicles instrument cluster speedometer and heads up display unit both receive the same signal from the engine computer for the vehicles speed. The engine computer receives a signal from the vehicle speed sensor in the transmission for this to operate.

This isn't a speed sensor or engine computer failure as both would be erratic or off on signal and usually the check engine light would also come on with this problem here.

One of the two either the instrument cluster or the heads up display unit is at fault and is causing this.

What needs to be done from here is a scan tool needs connected to the vehicle to observe the speed signal on the data list in the engine computer and also in the instrument cluster to see if the speeds match each other.

If the engine computer is showing a different speed then what the instrument cluster is showing then the instrument cluster has an internal failure and needs repaired or replaced.

If both the instrument cluster and the engine computer speed signals match each other then the heads up display unit is faulty and needs replaced.

This is how it needs to be checked/diagnosed to see which is at fault. This is best checked by a dealer using their scan tool but any shop that has a scan tool that can communicate with these systems can also check these here.

If it needs a new cluster or heads up display these would have to be bought at a dealer or the dealer can remove yours and send them in for repair to their authorized repair facility
