It will only work one way, so you might have to do some experimenting.
The side of the belt with 'traction' will always touch pulleys with groves or traction of their own. The smooth pulleys are for tension and will press against the smooth side of the belt.
This is from a different car, but might give you some idea:
I suggest purchasing a manual for your vehicle, or going to the auto parts store and thumbing through one.

My apologies for the delayed response.
I am going back to answer - unanswered questions. I have only been on this site for the past 4-months. Questions Posted have exploded (+55%) since joining.
I do not know if you still need this information, but I am answering it either way.
To answer your Question: This all depends on the Options you have on your vehicle. Example Power Steering/No Power Steering; with AC/No AC, etc... Most of these do have a Tension Pulleys: meaning more than one tensioner.

as mitsi supply cars all over the world(India/africa,no aircon,its optional)whats the problem.......someone obviously thinks they have the knowledge for the world.....not just U.S.A.............you may have to get into a dealer with a parts catalogue to find the correct belt/parts..

The compressor cannot be by-passed, but you can disconnect the compressor clutch by disconnecting the two wire connector at the compressor; then the compressor pulley is just an idler.
