Question about 2003 BMW 5 Series

1 Answer

I have a 2002 BMW X5. My heat does not come on. When I start the vehicle, the blower comes on, but no heat comes out. I have tried the thermostat up as high as 80 and still nothing. The heat function is turned on the dashboard vents. I still get nothing. My floorboard is wet on my front passenger side. Are they related? I have read several forums and some say it might be the fuse, heater coolant, check the computer, and other things. I purchased the vehicle used 1 year ago. I had the IHKA Control Unit replaced 6 months ago. Please help.

If there is wetness on pass sidefront , very well could be heater core issues. Start with replacing thermostat much, much cheaper. However dampness on passenger side is not good. best of luck

You have clean the blower unit , may be its dirty then . and then check the blower resistor unit for malfunction.

BMW 2002 X5 Battery Drain

I am having the same problem with my 2002 X5. There is a motor or fan running behind the AC control panel on the dash and if I pull fuse 48 it stops and the battery doesn't drain. Still looking for the cause and solution so that I don't have to keep pulling and installin fuse 48. BMW garage suggested that it was the Final Stage Blower Resistor. I replaced this and no change. I hope someone has an answer that will help us both.

Hi , this sounds like you have a couple of problems , firstly with the non starting after the engine has been running ,,, this is normally fuel pressure retension or the pre supply pump under the vehicle is faulty , the easiest way to check the pump, is when your vehicle doesn't start with the ignition lights still on , see if you can hear a buzzing noise from under the vehicle just behind the left hand front wheel , this will only prime itself for approx 20 seconds so it may be easier to have the help of someone , if you dont hear the buzzing turn the ignition off for 1 minute and switch on again , if there is no buzzing noise , replace the pre supply pump , the seccond fault with the blower motor running with the ignition off is a simple fault , this will require a replacment heater resistor , the resistor fails and drains the battery so it will cure the blower fault and the flat battery, hope this helps , regards mark

Most likely the dealer did something careless. Call them and demand they come and get the X5. Be slightly irate (if you are not already!). I would be surprised if you were the first person whose vehicle would not start after they worked on it.

Where is the oil stick located on a 2004 BMW X5

Assuming this is a six cylinder model, the dipstick comes out of the left hand side of the block near the rear of the engine. See http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=FA13&mospid=47745&btnr=11_2887&hg=11&fg=10

[Left side=left while you are sitting in the vehicle.]

My bmw x5 vents are not working, it is quite tempermental it works some times, can you please help

If the blower for the vents turns on and off at will, then the finals stage for the blower has failed.
This controls the blower speed, its located on the right side of heater box under the dash.
Google x5 final stage.
