WOW... It'd take a book's worth of instructions on here to answer your question. Which is why I would recommend that you purchase a repair manual specific to your model. It should give you all the info you need for these jobs and for future jobs as well. I always buy one for each vehicle that I plan to keep a while... they aren't that expensive and really pay for themselves in the long haul.
Hope this helps... Good luck with your project!

Hello SUBY bro, we've got an 05 Legacy 2.5i
Here is your answer which I'm quoting from LEGACYGT.COM: " The fuel filter in the 05s is in the fuel tank and there is no scheduled replacement interval." The same should be for your 06 model

I don't think the dohc engine in your 97 will work. And I'm not saying that because I have a sohc engine for sale. It came out of my 2000 Impreza RS. Unfortunately my daughter totalled the car (she's OK) and I retained the vehicle from the insurance company. the car (and engine) had 120,044 miles at the time of death. the timing belt was done at 105,000. The check engine light is indicating there IS a problem and yes, your cars performance is being effected. And since the car is older than 1996, a diqgnostic computer is out of the question.
