YOU'RE GONNA HATE THIS BUT IT DOES SOUND LIKE A FUEL ISSUE. HOWEVER HERE'S THE CATCH.....THE FURL FILTER IS IN THE GAS TANK CONNECTED TO THE FUEL PUMP. YOU HAVE TO DROP THE TANK OR TAKE THE BED OFF TO GET TO IT. AND YOU CAN ONLY GET THE NEW FILTER AT THE DEALER. THE LOCAL PARTS STORE DOESN'T CARRY THESE. BUT I'M NOT SURE ABOUT NAPA, THEY MIGHT. YOU MIGHT ALSO WANT TO CHECK FOR A VAC. LEAK AROUND THE THROTTLE BODY. LASTLY WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU DID ANYTHING TO THE TRANS.? MIGHT WANT TO LOOK INTO THAT.

SOURCE: diesel fuel pump problem

All diesel full filters should be install with fuel in it.The engine has to be primed before it will run. Hope this helps.

EGR is typically not employed at high loads because it would reduce peak power output. This is because it reduces the intake charge density. EGR is also omitted at idle (low-speed, zero load) because it would cause unstable combustion, resulting in rough idle. The EGR valve also cools the exhaust valves and makes them last far longer (a very important benefit under light cruise conditions).
Since the EGR system recirculates a portion of exhaust gases, over time the valve can become clogged with carbon deposits that prevent it from operating properly. Clogged EGR valves can sometimes be cleaned, but replacement is necessary if the valve is faulty.

You don't say what the year make and model is.
I am going to assume it is fuel injected, so the problem could be a faulty fuel pump or check valve in the pump.
The fuel line should have some pressure before you crank the engine. If the line has low or zero pressure, it takes a long time to pump it back up enough to start the engine.

Car won't start. Sounds like the engine flooded. Not the starter. Also loses power going uphill and when accelerating.


Check Engine Light flashing when accelerating ,severe engine misfire . Something in the ignition system is breaking down under a load . If the starter engages an spins the engine when you turn the key to start an it doesn't start an run , it has no spark or fuel pressure . If you don't know this or how to diagnose .suggest you take your vehicle to a qualified repair shop . Pull two plug wires off the top of the same coil an crank the engine , if you do not see a spark jump from one coil tower to the other you have an ignition system problem . ignition module or crankshaft position sensor

1997 chevy blazer 4.3L cold hard start have to add gas to carb to start hot start is fine changed fuel filter and battery new battery it will eventually start but runs down battery.


There may be a problem with the fuel pump itself or the truck may need a basic tune-up. Those would be the first two things to check. Pull a spark plug and see how it looks. If it is in really bad shape, it won't be able to fire properly and this will lead to hard starting. A set of plugs and plug wires can really wake up an older engine. The second thing to check if those are ok would be the fuel pump itself. It may be weak and take longer to build proper fuel pressure. This will have to be checked by a mechanic. The fuel pressure is very high and there are special tools that will be needed.

When I first start my Vette, it runs rough, like a carb car does if the choke isn't closing enough. Then after it gets warmed up and hot, it doesn't want to start back up and acts like it's vaporlocking...


On the start up thing: Look at the CHOKE PULLOFF. It's job is to open the choke enough to run. The diaphram inside fails often, from heat.

On the after warmed up thing: If this is a Quadrajet, when warm, just before you were to start it; without touching any throttle; open hood, pull air cleaner; look and smell all around for fuel. Carb floats eventually accept some fuel and become heavy, and will leak when warmer...

If you have zero, essentially, signs of raw fuel or smell....Look down the carb, and open the throttle, and hold open. You should see a squirt of fuel into each primary venturi. If no fuel, you should also have hesitation on acceleration.

Another quadra jet issue is drilling plugs. THis is between the carb body and the throttle plates. Rebuild kits have a sponge thing to seal that area, but without it and with leaking plugs, your FLOAT bowl drains of gas.....

If you cannot do these thing, take the text to the person that will work on it. These issues are typical, but when fixed, the Qjet is one of the best and most stable carbs out there.

I have 8000 miles on my Tucson check engine light came on at start up this morning...gas cap is tight...no problems?????
