Battery went flat now with a different battery check engine light is on can it be reset using the key switch

Probably not. Most need suitable diagnostic equipment to clear codes and those older models that do not simply disconnecting the battery for a few hours will generally do the trick. Sometimes it is possible to access codes and clear them by triggering self diagnosis by shorting selected pins of the obd socket.

A few older models fitted with an immobiliser can have the immobiliser code inputted by using a combination of key switch, brake or throttle pedal or the driver's door lock depending on manufacturer.

Immobiliser is stopping it cranking when bypassing ignition engine cranks but dose not run.

the immobiliser is not stopping it from cranking but is stopping it from firing. run the fault codes as the immobiliser is not the only thing that controls the spark
it could be a flat battery in the key pad.

Have tryed to start my car with the key turns ouer but would start

the immobiliser is just one of several items that will not allow the car to start. The immobiliser has to recognise the key for it to work so if the key battery is flat it will not start. run fault codes to check cam./crank position sensor.

Flat battery caused immobiliser problems

1-insert and remove key from ignition two times

2-close and open driver door two times

3-insert and remove key once from ign.

4-close and open drvr door twice

5-insert key into ign.,then close driver door

6-turn key to on (not start) then off, twice this is rewrite mode, have all remotes to reprogram it will clear any lost remotes.

7-remove key from ignition, the door locks should cycle twice.if not start may take a few tries.

8-press lock/unlock together and hold for a second

9-release,and press lock on remote, the door locks will cycle confirming program.continue to do other remotes you have, steps 8 and 9.if only one in possession, you are done. To end mode open door or insert key into ignition.

You'll need to follow the steps with no more than a 1-2 second delay between each step.. hope it works

Battery problem

sounds like there is a dodgy earth or have you had a new stereo/electrical equipment fitted? could be that there is a fault in the electrics causing the power to drain, wouldnt say that it was the immobiliser though.

hi check the fuses in the vechicle and if there ok you would have to see if there is a positive feed at the immobiliser as they are delicate circiuts you may have burned them out best of luck yates210456
