Question about BMW X5 Series
We have a 1991 hitachi wheelloader with a zf trans not computer controlled . after a warm up of about 10 min in the morning the trans works ok. after this period of timethe trans shifts from forward to reverse and reverse to forward normally but if the hand control lever is put into neutral it hesitates and trys atleast 2 times to select a gear before it ingauges correctly.it also looses 3rd and 4th gear and the digital speedo reading on the dash.if the trans is put into 4th gear for road travel it doesnot change automatically. the trans oil and filter were changed approx. 250 hrs ago, the oil was changed from ATF to FARMPLUS my new bosses choice. this problem started approx. /50 hrs after changing types of oil, coincidence or electrical.would very much appreciate your thoughts on this problem. Steve.

It appears you have a Forward Clutch FAILURE. Replace the trans after you get it diagnosed and verified by a professional technician. By the way, do you have a Check Engine light? If so, what is the diagnostic code? The dealership can scan the system and find any codes which may have been stored in the TCM (Transmission Control Module). If there were any 'Incorrect Gear Ratio" codes, it's most probably the trans itself.

SOURCE: 92 Accord Automatic shifting
Has anyone change the transmission fluid and used anything other than Honda ATF-Z1. If so, have the fluid/filter changed in this car and use only Honda Fluid. This is the only fluid that you can use in a Honda. Even if you have used the correct fluid an fluid/filter change may help. If that is not the case then I suggest you seek out a trusted professional.

check or replace your thottle position sensor tps that trans needs to know where the throttle is to shift if it is bad it will do as you say wont shift to third
another telltale is it will act like it goes into lockup when shifting into reverse and stall the engine
