What is the question, the idle speed or the knock sensor? The idle speed is not adjustable, it is computer controlled, if it has a stalling problem then the idle speed control valve is dirty.
The Knock sensor is just that, it senses what some people call spark knock, some pinging and others cylinder detonation, it sends a signal to the computer that the engine is knocking and the timing is then retarded until the knock stops, it can not completely stop knock but in most cases it controls it well as long as the engine is in good condition and the right grade of gas is used.

Idle is factory set and cannot be adjusted, your best bet is checking for cracked hose pipework for air intake at idle,(not at problem under exceleration and driving) Any slight upset to the air /fuel ratio will be most prevelent at idle speeds.Check hoses where the meet metal flanges on manifold intakes and any sharp bends in ppipes.Good luck

P0505 is correct, but replacing the IAC won't help if the PCM cannot control and/or monitor the operation

you need to measure voltage at the IAC and/or the signal return to the PCM

what year?

on a gas engine, the idle speed is 100% controlled by PCM at all times. hot.
so its out of control that means the PCM closes the ISC valve.
and RPM will not drop. (its stuck open) or vacuum air leaks
jeeps use speed density EFI system using the MAP sensor.
this means all air leaks on jeeps , cause wild fast idle speeds.
that is all you need to know , to find problem (find leaks)

clean the ISC yet (idle speed control) valve.?

It starts but as soon as it's put into gear acts like it wants to go but quits.


Could be a few things. But here are the obvious. Check for a vacuum leak around the intake. When you put the car into drive it starts putting strain on the engine, a vacuum leak will give it too much oxygen and cause a fuel mixture issue / reading.
If nothing wrong there, you may have a bad throttle position sensor. When you put the car into drive and it starts putting strain on the engine it will pull the idle down then the sensor will adjust it automatically. Hope this helps.

How can I adjust the rpm's on a 2004 Hyundai XG350L


You can not adjust rpm's, it is controlled by the engine computer. if you idle is not right, either your throttle position sensor is not right, or your idle air control is malfunctioning, although there can be numerous other causes for erratic idle (vacuum leaks, throttle body or air filter needs servicing, etc.).

Excessive RPM's. Sporadic Idle problem. Sometime idle is fine around 1000, other time's between 1500 to 2800.

Low engine idle speed when the air conditioning is running


the ac idle assist may be defective, if it's electric check the fuses if it's vachum operated check for vac. leaks. Also lube cables sometimes they stick Use wd-40 on the cables sparingly don't want dirt to stick to the cable.
