Transmission can i interchange a u140e transmission for a a541e transmission

According to Hollander interchange, 1997 is a year by itself that doesn't interchange with any other year. And a 2001 and 2002 interchange with eachother. They don't specify what the difference is, but just that they are not a direct interchange. My guess would be in the electronics and controlls.

They do bolt straight across, however the gearing might be different and the TCM might be different.

This 4.3 V6 is just a 350 V8 with 2 cylinders missing and even a V8 trans will fit/interchange physically being the same bolt pattern and size. If it's the same shift pattern and both transmissions are overdrive transmissions, yes, it will interchange. If it's GM, it'll swap. From 1988 the automatic transmissions have a multi bolt pattern and Pontiac, Caddy, Olds and Chevy, all will bolt up.

A 1994 Transmission is not interchangeable, but you can use a transmission out of a 1991-2 Buick Lesabre or Olds 98. These are just a couple I know of, but your local junkyard will look up other interchangeable transmissions for you. Hope this helps.

If the Eagle is 2 wheel drive try to determine if it has a 41te or 42te transmission. These can be interchanged by a knowledgeable mechanic assuming your vehicle is compatible. Many times these transmissions are referred to as a 604 or 606 respectively. The weak link in the 604 is it's output shaft splines.

The problem involves the lock-up torque converter in the transmission.
Could be low or dirty fluid, but probably the converter or a solenoid.
You'll need a shop manual and major tools to fix it.

- Total refill - 8.5 quarts.
