2003 Ford Expedition no crank no start

You say the instrument cluster is out ? You need to have a professional scan tool hooked up ,to see if all modules are communicating ! A code reader isn't going to be any help . If a module isn't communicating could an will bring down the Serial data bus ! Do you know what that is ? An if you replace the instrument cluster ,it has to go to the dealer for programming . An A bcc ,? your vehicle has a Vehicle Security Module ! No GEM , No smart junction box >
NOTE: Prior to removal of the vehicle security module, it is necessary to upload module configuration information to a diagnostic tool. This information needs to be downloaded into the new module once installed. For additional information, refer to Section 418-01 .
The vehicle security module controls the remote keyless entry system and the computer-operated lock system. For additional information, refer to Section 501-14 .
Communications Network Module Communications Network Components
  • powertrain control module (PCM)
  • restraint control module (RCM)
  • instrument cluster
  • driver seat module (DSM)
  • climate controlled seat module
  • parking aid module
  • central junction box (CJB)
  • vehicle security module
  • air suspension control module
  • 4-wheel anti-lock brake/traction control (ABS/TC) module or stability assist module
  • electronic automatic temperature control (EATC) module
  • four-wheel drive (4WD) control module
  • power liftgate module
  • tire pressure monitoring system module
Principles of Operation
The vehicle has three module communication networks:
  • the standard corporate protocol (SCP) communications network
  • the international standards organization (ISO) 9141 communications network
  • the UART based protocol (UBP) communications network
The diagnostic tool connects to all three networks through the data link connector (DLC). This makes diagnosis and testing of these systems easier by allowing one smart tester to be able to diagnose and control any module on the three networks from one connector. The DLC can be found under the instrument panel between the steering column and the radio.
The driver and passenger climate controlled seat modules are on the UBP network. The climate controlled seat modules control the temperature of the driver and passenger seats. For additional information, refer to Section 501-10 .
The vehicle security module is on the UBP communication network. The vehicle security module controls a variety of systems:
  • windshield wipers
  • courtesy lamps
  • warning chimes
  • interior lamps
  • exterior lamps
  • power windows
  • perimeter security
  • RKE/keyless entry
  • lock functions
  • monitors the entry doors and radio
Sorry but you would only waste your money buying a code reader ! Your best bet would be to take your vehicle to a qualified repair shop Or the ford dealer .

Code p0446, code po340

P0446 is a malfuntion in what is called your EVAP system spicifly the canaster purge valve . What this system dose is it takes fuel vaper and exese fuel from the fuel return at the gas tank and on damand at at hire speed or heavy load and send it to the intake manifold to be burned so it dosn't leak into the atimisphere. The P0340 code is a mis fire on #4 cylinder random and is being caused by the 0446 code.P01850 sounds like a transmissiton code that is like a byproduct and also caused by the P0446 as well .The first thing to check is the gas cap the system is a sealed system its the cheapest and easyest thing to check if it is leaking it would cause all of these problems . If its not that then you need to look at canaster purge valve its one of these two things

Im getting the codes p1698 and p0442 on my 1998 dodge caravan. i know they are auxiliary inputs and outputs and evap emission control system leak but i dont know how to fix this or even what they mean. can...

Okay, lets start with the po442, evap small leak detected, this may be as simple as a bad gas cap, but can also be a cracked hose in ther evap lines ar a vent valve not closing, check the vacuum hose for cracks from the purge valve in engine compartment ,a smoke machine would be very helpful in finding the leak. next is the p1698 this code is when the communication bettween the computers and theres no contact, the tcm (trany control module) is not responeding, this be be due to a bad module or broken wire or blown fuse. start by checking the fuses all of them, then check the connection on the module, this module is bolted to side of the trany , if you open the hood and look to the left and down you will see it its next to the trany lines going to trany, this module often goes bad and leaks trany oil at times.

1992 gmc g2500-no fire to injectors--ckd pink wire to pwr connector--no pwr on that wire--swapped computers and still no pwr

The signal that the computer uses to fire the injectors actually comes from the ignition module inside of the distributor.

Some applications also use the oil pressure sending unit to shut down the fuel pump and injectors if there is not enough oil pressure to run the engine safely.

There might also be a burnt fusible link at the starter that controls part of the power to the computer, you will know a burnt fusible link wire when you find one because it will stretch like a rubber band.

Be sure that all of the ground wires are tight, especially the computer ground wires at the back of the cylinder heads, and the computer ground wire that should be grounded next to the thermostat housing.

1997 Chrysler Concorde Lx problem code from Advanced Auto was P1698 and it said to check with manufacturer. They dont know either, computer does not go back that far. What does this mean?

no message received from the transmission control module. The bus system is the communication system the computers use to send information back and forth. Anything from a bad fuse, bad wire, or a faulty computer can cause that code.

Code p1698 for a 1998 chrysler concorde 2.7 i dont know what it means and noone seems to be able to tell me

Code p1698 means there is no digital data being recieved from the transmission control module to the power train or the other way around.
Take it and have the wire harness checked between the two modules, might have bad connection or bad wire. Also have the two modules checked, one might be bad.
They are expensive, so it's best to find out which one is bad, if it's not a bad wire, or dirty connection.
