Question about 2000 Chevrolet Suburban

2004 suburban with 45,000 and 4 wheel drive doesn't work - help!

As far as I know, the 4 wheel drive on 2004 Sub has never been used; only has 45,000 miles. Of course, out of warranty because of the age, not the miles. Can a mechanic fix the problem?

SOURCE: replace front wheel bearing on 2004 suburban 2

You have to remove the brake and rotor assembly and then there are three either 13 or 15 milimeter bolts on the back side. it is a fairly easy job.

SOURCE: The brakes went out on

Sudden brake failure like you describe is usually due to a failed master cylinder. They are not too expensive and pretty easy to replace. Just be sure to bench bleed it very well with absolutely no traces of air bubbles before installation. New one around $35 and it comes with instructions and a bleed kit. Be sure to also bleed each wheel calpier and cylinder in this order: right rear, left rear, right front, left front. Top off fluid in new master cylinder with clean fluid between each wheel you bleed. That should get your brake pedal up nicely. Inspect pads and shoes while you are at it and for a failed caliper or leak at caliper piston or wheel cylinder.
NOTE: I would check to be sure a brake line didn't rupture first off in the odd case that may have caused the sudden failure. Not common, but possible......Mike

There is a blower motor control processor for the back blower - it takes input from the front control and the rear control and decides the fan speed. That processor could be faulty, or the blower motor, or a 30amp fuse in the engine compartment.
In the front system you have a controller and blend doors that direct air thru the heater core and evaporator. You would need to check the operation of those blend doors.

I have a 2004 Chevrolet Suburban 4X4, we are having trouble with the 4 wheel drive not switching to 2 wheel drive or to four wheel drive. We had the actuator (spelling?) replaced and it is still not...

Check the grounding wires behind the front left tire. GM put the wiring directly behind the tire and there is a grounding bolt in the body. This usually gets corroded and nothing in the 4x4 system will work. Clean this up and apply some RTV Gasket sealer to help weather - proof it.
