Loosen of the belt and align all the dots correctly then refit the belt . If the cam dot moves of line then reposition it correctly as you fit the belt. I suspect something is wrong as the cam should be under no pressure from the valve springs to make it shift. Take care in moving the cam shaft as the valves will hit the piston . If you cannot turn the cam shaft then remove it altogether and start again from scratch following the procedures exactly.

HO TO REPLACE A TIMING BELT IS THERE A TIMING MARK ON THE INJECTOR PUMP AND HOW DO YOU LINE THEM UP

Hi John:
If you take the timing blt cover off so you can see the face of the pump drive, one of the lugs should have a dot on it. (That is if it's similar to ones I've worked on. There should also be a dot on the drive pulley. If you hold a straight edge across the centres of these pulleys, and manually turn the engine, there should be a point where the dots on both pulleys line up throughth centre line of the pulleys. This is the position where you can remove the old belt and install the new one. As long as the end result is the same alignment as you started with, all will be cool.

I need the titening torque specs on a Isuzu 4hk1, big end bolts, cilinder bolts and injector timing marks on the flywheel and cam gears

head bolts
98 N?m (10 kg?m/72 lb?ft) ?147 N?m (15 kg?m/108 lb?ft) ? 30° - 60°

big ends
39 N?m(4.0 kg?m/29 lb?ft) ? 60° ?30

flywheel is dowled pined to crankshaft so it goes in correct position.so cant get that wrong unless someone has removed dowel pin.

timing mark on front pulley in middle of pulley aligns up with mark in front timing cover, and cam should have dot or "B" (depending on year) that aligns up with outer edge of head when TDC No1 firing. in this position the injector pump if common rail has dot on gear that aligns to casting mark on pump near where shaft for gear comes out of pump (can only see when pump is removed) white texta mark the tooth with the dot and fit pump while all other marks previuosly mentioned are still in correct position, in side of bell housing there should be an inspection nut or plastic bolted tear drop cover to remove close to chassis rail look inside with mirror and torch and white texta marked tooth should be in middle of this inspection hole to confirm its not a tooth out.

How do I replace camshafts on Toyota Hilux 3.0 d4d?

The Toyota Hilux D4D 3.0 1KDFTV is an interference engine, so if the timing is wrong then the pistons will critically damage the valves. Removing the camshafts is easy, you just need to remove the set of bearing cap bolts that fasten them, in a predetermined order. When reinstalling the camshafts you just need to ensure the peripheral stamp marks on each of the camshaft sprockets align with each other. ie Align the indented dot with its adjacent indented dot or align the highlighted indented dot with its adjacent highlighted indented dot. The bearing cap bolts will need to be fastened with a torque wrench. Then connect the timing gear pulley onto the right camshaft using a key woodruff slotted into the right camshaft groove. Always double check the timing - that the peripheral stamp marks align. Don't under tension bolts, don't over tighten bolts either.

How to set the time belt?

4 Cylinder diesel(4JX1) :
1 - Timing mark
2 - Cam pulley
3 - HP Oil pump pulley
4 - Tensioner pulley

suzman_0.jpg

6 Cylinder petrol:
Align crank(C) timing notch mark (1) to oil pump mark.
Align cam pulley(L+R) marks(3) to cylinder head marks
The cam belt has 3 marks, 2 lines and one mark that is actually a row of dots. Align the dots to the crank pulley groove mark(2) and align the other 2 lines to the cam pulley marks. Using a clothes peg to hold the belt to the cam pulleys works wonders to keep it in place while fitting. Please note the arrows on the belt and have them point in the direction of rotation - right to left side of engine
W - water pump pulley
I - Idler pulley
T - Tensioner pulley.

If for some reason you need to realign the cams on each bank :
Standing in front of the car and starting from YOUR left , looking at the cams you should see RE, RI, LI, LE on each of the camshafts.(R for right bank, L for left bank, I for intake and E for exhaust) Right bank camshafts are marked with one dot, left bank with 2 dots on the shaft itself. To align the camshafts to each other each cam shaft gear has a mark on it. Draw an imaginary line between the centre of the camshaft and the centre of the pulley. The alignment mark should be between the two along this imaginary line. The result will be that RI an RE will be at the top of each gear. The same with the left bank.

How do u get it in time when all the pullys have been moved

Turn the crankshaft so that the mark on the flywheel lines up with the arrow on the bellhousing(Theres a plastic plug on the bellhousing to remove before you can do this. Confirm that no 1 piston is on TDC by inserting a plastic rod/straw or similar into no 1 cylinder plug hole. Turn the crankshaft quarter turn from its original position, when the rod reaches its highest point youre on TDC.
Remove tappet cover. Turn camshaft so that lobes on cylinder 1 point upward/away from head. Check cam pulley - on the inside of the cam pulley is a dot stamped into the rim of one of the teeth. Align this dot with the top on the head.
Adjust intermediate pulley so that the dot stamped on its rim lines up with the notch in the crankshaft pulley.
When fitting the belt keep tension on the parts of the belt indicated in the sketch. (Sorry sketch is so rudimentary)

Drive belt assembly

The mark II VW uses one large belt which goes around the crank, water pump and A/C compressor. Then, there is another smaller belt that goes around the crank and power steering pump (if equipped). Then, a smaller belt goes around the A/C compressor and around the alternator. If it's a diesel, there will also be a tensioner pulley for the alternator belt. If gasoline, there will be no pulley. To answer your question, there are 3 belts. One big one and two small ones.
