SOURCE: 1996 Chevy Blazer check engine light on

More then likely its the Canister Purge Solenoid. you can find it online at www.autozone.com the part number is PV140. And to replace it on blazer you have to remove the spare tire. Alot of people don't know where this part is so I hope this helps you and good luck.

SOURCE: 1999 Subruban 1500 LT Failed Emissions Test:

You may have a defective coolant or air temp sensor. These need to be accurate in order for some of the monitors to run. Your going to need a diagnostic scanner to see the data so you can determine what is wrong.

If you had replaced or unhooked the battery just pryor to geting the smog then thats the problem. Just drive the truck for a couple days and you should be fine.

You will still pass the test if you still have 2 monitors not set. California allows that. 3 fail

Why do i get OBD/READINESS, Not ready?

Alan, I f you have had battery disconnected or had some one erase codes recently, the computer has to go through what is known as a drive cycle to complete all monitors cycling, some vehicles complete cycle in 10 miles, where as some could take 100 miles or more.
My Toyota EVAP readiness state will not cycle in cold weather and takes thousands of miles before it gets to readiness state.
I think some shops can force systems to run if they have a good scan tool.

Why can they fail my inspection for obd with no check engine light on?

there are many systems that need to be ready for the obd testing. for example the catalyst has to be ready and the evap. system needs to be ready if more than one of these systems are not ready the machine will fail you at this time. then they will tell you to usually come back in a week or so after the vehicle has been driven and they will test the vehicle again for FREE of charge. also if you just recently had any work done and they cleared the codes from your vehicle this will delete your obd system ready lights, which will cause the same outcome.

Ok let me start by saying that my 2006 Nissan Altima 2.5 S had a check engine light....it was checked and it came up P0037 bank 1 sensor 2.....and I was told that it was the down stream sensor...I...

You need to find a new shop that can actually diagnose
a vehicles evap system & the emission monitors

You can not do that without professional tools & knowledge

Don't know how many times you need to be told that

The shop you went to isn't doing anything apparently

You have problems to find & resolve & no one else will
give you a different answer, if they even work on vehicles,
or have knowledge of the obd systems & only the pros have
the test equipment needed

check the EVAP canister it is right next to fuel filter could be pcm needs update to fix false codes. Here is a old hillbilly trick that may help put saliva on the seal of gas cap when you fill up every time that may work for you.

Evap and catalyst not ready smog reject

Sometimes this is because the thermostat is not warming up the engine - and sometimes it is because the battery was disconnected or the computer has lost memory and has not been driven enough to relearn yet.
A local garage that deals with smog tests in your area should be able to advise.

Ford explorer sportrac evap and catalyst not ready problem how to fix it?

One possible issue is a faulty thermostat. If the engine is not getting up to normal temp the emissions system will not go into closed loop.
I know its hot in Nevada now so thats just a suggestion.
The O2 sensors have heaters to make the exhaust gas hot quick so that the sensors can work.
Is the check engine light coming on - or is it just that the exhaust gas is not hot enough for the test equipment ?

Trying to get my 1997 honda civic smogged. Replaced the knock sensor about 800 miles ago. No check engine light is on. When I try to smog it i have three things not ready - the catalyst, the evap, and...

As a rule it takes about 50 miles for the computer to finish it's readiness tests. Some take longer so I would drive it about 75 miles and then check.

My 2003 Toyota Solara will not pass inpection because the EVAP and catalyst monitors won't become ready. I have driven over 400 miles on highway and another 90 around town and have done a Toyota recommened...

Both of these monitors won't run until the oxygen sensor monitor has run. The oxygen sensor monitor won't run if an Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) is stored. So, did you replace the errant coolant temp sensor? I take it you did and reset the codes. But you need to check the codes again and see if there are any that returned or are pending. A pending misfire code will not allow the oxygen sensor monitor to run. (Pending codes will not turn on the check engine light.)

This information is from Haynes Techbook "OBD-II" (No. 10206) Chapter 6, p. 14-16
