There should be a 3 digit code on the RPO sticker starting with the letter F or G. The sticker is in the glove box or on the driver side door post.
GS1 is 2.73 GM4 is 3.67 and so on.

What is the rear end ratio for 2005 Jeep Liberty limited edition 4wd

You will need to locate the tag on the rear end cover and find out the gear ratio, if theres no tag then you will need the manufactors date on the door, for example 04/05, and also if it got abs, there are three types,4.10 or 3.55 or 3.73. the best way is the tag or pull cover and count the teeth on ring gear and pinion gear and divide the two to get the ratio. goodday, also try to call the dealer parts dept and give them the vin # and they may be able to tell you the type rear end you have,

The spider gear pin in my rear end has come loose! i need to replace th rear end but dont wish to replace with th same year. i would like to go older since these rear ends have a bolt hold this pin in...

well i dont know if older rears would work due to design. but you could lock tite this pin on the same model year, make sure you get same gear ratio on the replacement axle.

What is the gear ratio on a 1991 dodge dakota 4x2. V8 319

The standard gear ratio for a '91 Dakota with the 318 V-8 was the 3.55 ring and pinon. The 3.90 or the 3.21, or the 2.76 could be ordered as an option. However the most of the Dakotas, either the V-6 or the V-8 were ordered with the 3.55 non-locking rear axles. Also your truck may have had either the 7.25" rear end, having a differential cover that is shaped ( 8 sides) like a "stop sign". Most likely will have the 8.25" rear end, having a "more rounded" differential cover. With your truck being a 318 V-8 the 8.25" rear end was more common. Hope that helps.

Replaced rear axle on a gmc 1500 4by4 with a 3.42 gear ratio as the original .but I noticed that I have to accelarate more just to keep up with trafic, do I have to reprogram the on board computer?

As long as it's the same ratio, it shouldn't effect the computer. I would check the numbers on the rearend to make sure it is the same gear ratio. Or there maybe a problem with the replacement rear end. Is it a locking differential rearend?

Want to change gears in rear end for posi traction in a 98 gmc25000 is this possible?

It is possible, you just have to know what gear ratio you have in your Sierra. I had issues with my son's rear differential and did the Salvage Yard and picked one up for $250.00 with less then 45,000 miles. Remember new cars end up at Salvage Yards also.

Here are the Pro code for the rear ends to your Sierra and you can match one up at a Salvage Yard.
GQ1 -- AXLE REAR, STD RATIO
GT4 -- AXLE REAR, 3.73 RATIO
GT5 -- AXLE REAR, 4.10 RATIO
GU4 -- AXLE REAR, 3.08 RATIO
GU5 -- AXLE REAR, 3.23 RATIO
GU6 -- AXLE REAR, 3.42 RATIO
G80 -- AXLE REAR, LIMITED SLIP (POSI TRACTION)

HC4 -- AXLE REAR, 4.56 RATIO

Open Your glove box and look inside it. Should be a list of codes on the bottom.
Example: GU6 G80 According to that, you'll have a 3.42 posi

Good luck and keep me posted and call around Salvage Yards, there prices will differ from one to the next salvage yard and don't ask them for a posi rear end. The cost will you more, just search all the SUV's and look at the pro codes in the glove box. Hunt, most awd system SUV will have the G80 rear end.

Good luck and keep me posted.

How do I replace the ring gear and pinion in my 68 Camaro 12 bolt

You can change the ratio back to 4.10. However, if you do not already have the specialty tools required to do the job, you will likely be better off finding a shop that will change the gears for you. A mistake as simple as incorrect backlash will result in destroyed ring & pinion gears.

Your cheaper options will be :
1. Find a matching rear-end with 4.10 gears and swap it in.
2. Purchase the ring and pinion, master install kit, and find a friend that has installed gears before to help you out.
3. Find a 4x4, Hotrod or auto shop that is will swap the gears for you. If the axle is in the car, it's usually more expensive than if you carried the axle in for them to work on.
4. Purchase R&P, Master install kit, all the required tools. Then hit the books to find the proper procedure and measurements for that axle.

Good Luck.
