SOURCE: 2008 grand marquis door locks just stopped working

Hello fellow Grand Marquis owner...

Fuses 2 and 9 in the central junction box protect this system.

There is a thing called the 'Driver Door Module' (DDM) that controls both the things that you are having trouble with.

If you want to test this module, a voltmeter will be necessary. The wiring diagram is available from Chilton either in a manual (which you should be able to borrow from a library), or online (if your library has the ChiltonLibrary available to you... you'll need a library card).

On the module, check for +12 volts on pins 10, 11, and 22. Check for ground on pins 23 and 24.

Working with the diagram is definitely the way to go.

Good luck from Detroit, MI.

How to change the keypad code on a 2001 mercury grand marquis

look for the permanent code on the plastic card in the owner manual packet. Or, pay dealer to extract code from computer.

Keyless Entry Keypad Code Programming NOTE: The system only allows one code to be programmed.
  1. Enter the permanent factory keyless entry keypad code.
  1. Press the 1/2 button within five seconds to activate the programming mode. Holding the 1/2 button for more than two seconds after activation will erase the stored customer code . The door locks will lock, then unlock, confirming the code is erased. The existing code will not need to be erased to program new a code.
  1. Within five seconds, enter the new five-digit keyless entry keypad code. The door locks will lock and unlock to confirm the new code is programmed.

2001 Mercury grand marquis' keyless entry pad is flashing and beeping even when car turned off. Everything else is working normally.2nd time this has happened. 1st time disconnected battery and it stopped....

Same problem on my 2000. Apparently moisture gets into the pad and shorts it out. The constant lock/unlock and lights flashing (also headlights comin on if you have them on automatic) will run the battery down in no time. I solved it temporarily by unplugging the keypad plug behind the door trim. That will still give you the door lock/unlock funtions from your remote. Only fix is to replace the pad.

Keypad door lock does not work..?

it's in owner manual. But, first you have to enter your original code and it must work. then you press the 1 button and then enter a new 5 digit code, then press the 1 button again.

Keyless Entry Keypad To unlock the driver front door (20124) , and disarm the anti-theft alarm control (19A366) , (if equipped):
  • Enter the permanent factory code.
  • Enter the owner's alternate code.
To unlock the passenger door(s), press the 3/4 button within five seconds of unlocking the driver door or luggage compartment. To unlock the luggage compartment door (40110), press the 5/6 button within five seconds of unlocking driver or passenger door(s). To turn on the courtesy lamps and light all illuminated components, lift either front door handle (22404) or press any button on the keyless entry keypad (14A626) . To lock all doors, press the 7/8 and 9/0 buttons at the same time with all doors closed. (It is not necessary to enter the key code first.) This will turn off courtesy lamps and arm anti-theft alarm control (if equipped). To program an alternate code:
  1. Enter the five digit permanent entry code into keyless entry keypad .
  1. Within five seconds of pressing last button of permanent code, press the 1/2 button within five seconds of pressing the last button of the permanent code.
  1. Enter any alternate five digit code within five seconds of pressing 1/2 button.
    • Enter a sixth digit as follows to indicate operator's memory seat setting to be set by alternate code:
      • 9/0 — no memory recall
      • 1/2 — memory seat position 1
      • 3/4 — memory seat position 2
      • 5/6 — memory seat position 3
    • After successful programming, the doors will signal by locking and then unlocking.

    Car will not unlock.

To get inside the car .... Use the key in the lock cylinder, unlock the drivers door to get inside. You shouldn't have to reprogram the fob unless it or the keyless module was changed. There may be a blown fuse that supplies the keyless control module (check the owners manual for location). or wires that lead into the Drivers door may be damaged ... The keyless module is located inside the drivers door at the bottom behind the door panel ... do the unlock/lock and trunk release switches on the inside of the drivers door operate the locks and or trunk release? If so it is not the fuse ... and not the wires to it ... And it could be your BCM body control module, located in the dash board to right of your gas petal. Because the number entry keypad (code for that is on the inside of the right passenger trunk bracket arm) also doesn't work I assume it's not the key fobs themselves. Your 98 manual is correct for your car.
