maybe your fuel pump stop working or a blown fuse for the fuel pump or ignition coil. First checked for blown fuses

SOURCE: 2006 Kia Rio CAn not get the gas nozzle into the

Be certain you are on the regular pump not the diesel as the nozzle diameter is much larger on diesel pumps nozzles for the reason of not making a mistake, also check to see if someone was trying to siphon gas from your vehicle while you were sleeping or at work when the vehicle was left unattended, they sometimes put a hose down the throat of the filler neck and leave it or it breaks off while they are done getting free gas...if all else is and looks normal (has a little flap device built in it) then the problem is the venting tube is either plugged or kinked not allowing the fuel to flow freely into the tank and causing it to back up, have it checked most likely by a pro shop on a car lift.

I had my kia rio fuel tank replaced because it was leaking now the fuel gauge indicates 3/4 full when tank is full...any ideas?

The float in the gas tank may be sticking & giving u that false reading. They should of brought this to your attn when the job was done. The shop that did the job should be able to at least give u a diagnosis of your problem. That PART wont be warranted w the job but as "professionals" u can ask them to cut u a break. Good luck

I want to syphon gas out of a 2005 kia rio

if the car is headed to the salvage yard anyway..if you have a drain pan thats clean or some gallon jugs that are clean, do this carefully..raise the back of the car up enough to get to the tank and have room(and help)to switch out bottles as necesary..just using a hammer and a screwdriver or b ig nail with a sharp point.. poke a hole in the tank and drain the fuel out into the bottles our drain pan..BUT..NO SMOKING...NO OPEN FLAME..NO LIGHTERS etc..this gas is very explosive and should be handled as little as posible..autozone and walmart carry an oil drainpan that sits flatways and has a drainspout on it and it holds about 6 gallons of fluid..consider using something similar before putting a hole in the tank..once the hole is made during the draining process, when needing to stop the flow to change bottles..just use your finger to plug the hole..gas liquid does not harm too much and can be removed with handsoap..the smell is a bit strong tho..it will go away after some time..just be very careful and remember this is usually NOT recommended to do..gas theives do this same thing using a portable batterypowered drill in the city.. my bosses van has a plastic fuel tank on it that hols 38 gallons of gas,, its been hit 3 times in one year...

2006 KIA RIO PO171 AND PO0446 CODES SHOWING UP AND WHEN YOU FILL UP WITH GAS IT DONT WANT TO START AND MISSES

P0171 System too Lean - Bank 1.
P0446 Evaporative Vent Control Circuit Malfunction.

Sounds like your Evaporative Vent Control is stuck closed and it's causing a vaccuum in the tank, starving the engine of fuel because the pump can't **** it out.

The more fuel in the car, the worse it will be because the vaccuum will be more pronounced if there is little air in the tank. Just TRY running the car with the fuel cap off or very loose. This will probably work and will give you an indication that this is the fault. Use the opportunity toget it to a garage to get the problem fixed (Don't drive around with no fuel cap, it's against the law!).

You can find a full list of fault codes for your car at:

If tank got no drain plug either remove fuel sender/pump from top of tank & pump out & clean with rag on a wire (long & tedious) or remove tank & do the same
