or i can feel it go in to drive but the engine lacks power to move fast.
or the tranny shifts to Drive. but the tranny flares. RPM goes way too high?
or tranny slips (RPM) only cold or hot.
just a clue as to what is going on , in details.

Need to locate the engine temperature sensor on my 1997 Pontiac Sunfire not the engine coolant temperature sensor

Some older models of cars had a coolant temperature switch; a two-wire device that was used to cycle the cooling fan, and an engine temperature sensor that was used by the ECM as part of the engine control loop. Newer cars (this one included) use the coolant temperature sensor for both purposes. There is only the one sensor serving both purposes.

VSS vehicle speed sensor replacement

There are vehicle speed sensors on all four wheels and usually another on the transmission. Depends on why you are replacing and what system you are having trouble with. The ABS uses the four wheels to gauge speed for stopping and traction control purposes. The sensor on the transmission (output speed sensor) is the one that feeds data to the computer for the speedometer. Take off your tires and the speed sensors are easy to find behind the brake rotors. The trans mounted sensor will be easiest to find by having the new part in hand and finding the corresponding sensor to match.

What is the best way to remove O2 sensor bank 1 sensor 2?

Here is the low-down on oxygen sensors, and their location designations explained:

Oxygen sensors are screwed into the exhaust system at various points. Some people say that there are 4 oxygen sensors, but technically, that is not correct. Only the front 2 are considered oxygen sensors.

These oxygen sensors are screwed into the exhaust pipe or directly into the exhaust manifold, one on each bank. Because they are in front of the catalytic converter, this is often referred to as 'upstream'.

The other 2 are actually called catalyst monitors. They are oxygen sensors, but they serve a different purpose. They monitor the activities of the catalytic converters, thus the name, catalyst monitors. They are screwed into the exhaust one on each bank, after, or downstream, of the catalytic converters.

On a 4 cyl engine, there are only a total of two such sensors, the one in front of the catalytic converter is the O2 sensor, the one behind the cat is the catalyst monitor.

The location names for them are as follows:
  • On a 4 cyl, the front / upstream is called "bank 1 sensor 1" and the rear / downstream sensor is called "bank 1, sensor 2."

  • On a V6 or V8 engine:

    • the passenger side bank on a forward facing engine, or the bank closest to the firewall on a transverse mounted engine, is bank number 1, so the forward / upstream sensor on that bank would be "bank 1, sensor 1."

    • The driver's side bank (forward facing mount engine), or front bank (transverse engine) would be bank number 2, thus the forward / upstream sensor on that bank would be "bank 2, sensor 1," and the rearmost / downstream sensor on that bank would be "bank 2, sensor 2."

Where's the pressure sensor switch for the Air Conditiner located.Looking for single wire (black) to compressor.Don,t see one under hood anywhere obvious

Most high/low pressure switches are located in low side line or at dryer. This sends signal voltage to holding coil (Stator) of compressor to engage clutch. Your local parts should have a manual or internet access to component location for ordering purposes.
