Get a can of carb cleaner and spray it on the vaccuum connections and around the intake manifold. When you notice a change of rpms, you have found the leak.

This code indicates a large leak in the EVAP system ( Vaccuum Leak ) you will have to locate a broken vaccuum line or check EVAP canister for a leak or crack. You can also take it to a garage that has a smoke machine and what they do is hook the machine up to your EVAP system it blows white smoke in and it will come out at the point where it is broken or leaking. It might be worth the money to have this done because it can be a nightmare to find a vaccuum leak and this way it only takes about 10 seconds and they usually don't charge much for this test.

Brakes dont stop suburban till I push real hard

Check brake system. Resurface brake rotors. Replace pads. Check drums and shoes. Fush system. I use cross drilled rotors and carbon fiber pads. Stop in a hurry. Some Suburbans (94 and up) have slow ABS units that take their time to allow brakes to activate.

What age? What Mileage?

Brake hoses go bad and either prevent brakes from operating or prevent them from pulling back after being applied. Had this problem too.

Also check for vaccuum leaks. TBI engines had a loose metal tube under the TBI unit. I had a vaccuum leak and had to tighten my tube 6 times @ 1/4 turn each. Solved problem.

Try to use some liquid around vaccuum hoses and see if idle changes. Non TBI engines have plastic intake issues.

Check check valve in vaccuum booster. My was bad too.

Molded hose neeed to be replaced. I used two hoses and a brake booster filter in the HELP section to make the 90 degree turn from the hard line to the check valve.

93 Suburban 2WD. Runs great now. 16 mpg city.

With my foot on the brake and in drive I rev the gas but when I take my foot off the car idle drops and then it stalls

Check under the hood for a vaccuum leak. This could be a bad vaccuum hose. If no vaccuum leak then this actually sounds like your IAC is bad (idle air control motor) and needs replaced.

Engine runs at a fast idle. This started after a backfire during a start up;

I would check vaccuum hoses are all connected and unbroken.
Sounds like maybe when it "backfired" it popped a vaccuum line loose.
The way I check for Vaccuum leaks is spray WD-40 the entire length of each hose while it is running, when vaccuum sucks in the WD-40 it will "Rev" the engine some.

Turbo used to whistle cant hear whistle and there is slight rattle when accelerating

Same thing happened to me.
First check the intake plumbing for a boost leak. Ripped flex pipe, loose clamps. Pull off the small vent in the bumper (right side) and check if the intercooler took a hit. Inside the right front wheelwell look and see if the plastic liner is intact or if the intercooler is exposed- could have taken a rock hit, unlikely but it's an easy thing to check and doesn't cost a dime to look

Then no matter what you find with the boost leak you have to get your hands on a vac pump. There's a vac line that runs to the underside of the turbo. It goes to a 'pod' on the bottom. Follow it up to the T, then hook the vac pump there. You want to test the vac pod on the turbo to see if it holds pressure. Pump it up while feeling the actuator rod on the turbo. (You want to do this on a cold engine by the way)
When you apply vaccuum the rod should move smoothly AND it should hold vaccuum. If it seems like it is draging and poping free the actuator is shot. Or it bleeds down at all then either you have a leak in the vac line or the vac actuator needs to be replaced.

Switch not working on A/c Panel 96 Stratus

check the dampers on the other vents where the evaporator is for the a/c. those are usually controlled by vaccuum. look for a vaccuum leak if they are vaccuum controlled. most are.
