Have you checked for power at the neutral safety switch ?
And I am assuming you mean it will not crank, right ?

SOURCE: starter switch

You'll connect one side of the button to constant 12v. like the battery positive and the other side of the switch will go to the trigger wire of the starter. This is the wire that tells the starter what to do.

SOURCE: No power going to the starter (2002 jeep wrangler x 4.0 auto)

Hi Tyler.
By run position I assume you mean that you're trying to crank the engine, and that by nothing you mean that there's no sign of the starter engaging. Is this correct?
If you've checked the starter and you are absolutely sure it's getting power you have a seemingly impossible problem, because if the starter is getting the power it needs and you know it's mechanically ok there's nothing in the world that could stop it from cranking.
Are you sure you haven't missed a wire when checking the starter? If the car has an alarm with an immobilizer (also called start inhibitor) it might be activated due to a fault somewhere in the wiring. Some cars might even disable the starter if a critical engine failure is detected. If so the cars diagnostic system should report a fult code when checked. (And, needless to say, an attempt to hot-wire the starter is not recommended until you identify the problem).
I'm really curious about this problem, please notify me when you find a solution!
Good luck!

Put new Saftey switch on starts in neutral not in park

So why not jus start it in neutral. It's just a car. Don't dump too much money into it. When a simple fix will suffice.
A few years ago I had a Impreza and the key would not start the car. A new steering column was needed. But wait! Even half of the wrecking yard parts had the same problem.
So instead weAdded a push button starter button instead. $7 vs $575.
Let me think. What is one to do?
The car is still running fine.

It sounds like the wiring to the key was rerouted to the button. Does it come with the push button as standard, or was it installed @ a later date?

No power getting to the starter

check the connection on the starter. its not a ground cable or the pump and lights wouldn't come on. cars getting old, probably needs a new starter. check the small wire on the starter for power when the key is in start position. if power then your starter is done. if no power could be netral safty switch. try starting in neutral instead of park

some cars and trucks have a keylock on the steering collum under the wheel somewhare there is a little knob, lever, or button. on the collum or right by the key. that when pushed, pulled. or turned releases the key to the full off position. just give it a good look over im sure youll find it. you have to be moveing the key back at the same time while useing the lever. im assuming you have just bought this car and wasent shown how to unlock it.. however if you have had this car awhile and this has never happened before you need a new ignition switch on the collum. i hope this information helps..

The covers come off the steering collum and the switch is heald to the collum with two #4torx headed bolts ( torx socket not a key ) unplug the electrical connector and plug in the new one It'll come with new bolts. sometimes they have #3 torx and you'll just have to cut the heads off and install the new bolts after the switch is out of the way. put the lock cyclinder back in. The lock cyclinder comes out of the old one as the cover is lifted up theres a pin to push down with the key in the run position, and the tumber will pull out and the cover can be removed as you put it back to gether the cullum can be all the way to gether and put the lock and key in last, then turn it to start then off and your done.
