you need to check the igniter, it sometimes bolt up on the engine wall or close to the shock mount. if the igniter is not working you will not get current.

IT WONT HOLD IDLE

IT WONT HOLD AN IDLE !!! doe's it make funny faces ? doe's it shake rattle and roll ? really there's a ton of reason's why it wont idle every thing form **** gas to screwed spark plugs. check your plugs and wires plus the distributer cap and rotter and air filter then fuel filter then most important thing of all is the engine light on if it is take that beast down to a shop and have the codes read that will point u in the right direction.

Bonneville still wont start any other ideas going to drain all liqiuds and put new fluids in then go from there if anyone lives around sun prairie wi please lend a helping hand whatelse should i do

First off, don't bother with the liquids draining. The only liquid that makes any difference is the fuel. Your car will still run with no oil, antifreeze, etc. What you need to do is to troubleshoot this. This car has a carburetor, so it is easy. Take the air cleaner off, and look in the top of the carburetor while pulling on the throttle linkage. You should see a squirt of gas inside the carburetor. If you don't, then you aren't getting gas, and you need to check your fuel filter, fuel pump, and fuel lines, in that order. If you do, then you aren't getting spark. If this is the case, you will have to first test to see if the distributer has power to it when the ignition switch is turned on. If not, run power from the battery to the distributer and try it. If it doesn't run then, you have to dig into the distributer. Take the cap off. Do you see anything that looks burnt, broken wires, rotor broken, anything like that? If so, replace it. There may be a rusty colored deposit on everything; that's ok. If you still haven't found the problem, it is likely either the coil, which is in the distributer cap, or it is the regulator inside the distributer. Either can be replaced easily and cheaply. Hope this helped get your pontiac on the road.

I hawe a 2002 fird explorer and wont start will crank and hawe gas in system but no sparks on spark plugs

Roughly 4 possibilities. First to check would be ignition switch, by determining if power getting to coil when key turned on. Second would be coil. These days you have to take it in, but most part places will check it for free. Third it the control module. Same advice. Forth is the distributer pickup. Same advice again, except put the engine on TDC and mark the pointing of the rotor on the shaft, so that you can put the distributer back in more easily.

1989 CHEVY G20 VAN WONT START

Well.... I do not see the ignition module listed, which is mounted inside the distributor mentioned yet. Have you replaced it and just not listed it? The crank sensor could be too.....I just can't imagine having to cut a wiring harness. Never had to before... keep trying other things.

Car will not start

All the things you replaced were a great place to start. I would suspect the ignition coil. approx. 119.00 for OEM a lot less at the parts store.
